Selling my 06 CBR1000rr and looking to up grade. Curious to know if any of you guys are riding the 2012 R1 or CBR1000rr. Ill be buying off the show room most likely. Any inputs would be thanked. Oh, and its either R1 CBR1KRR, I hate Kawi and Suzuki.

I hate Kawi

... and I thought I liked you....

what's so wrong with a classic Kawi?

she's a "super" bike:)

I like my top speed around 200, and i hate bright green!

What are you upgrading? Where do you ride?
Not to be dick, but unless you fit into the top 5% of riders, you cant outride that 061Krr. Cant. 90% of riders cant outride a 600, let alone a litre bike.

I mean is it just WOT runs or are you on a track or around town or what? Im confused...

Theres a lot of open roads, i like the 1st 100 mph best, grab you by the junk and toss ya around power. Thing is mine is getting old and miles keep going up and I dont want to loose too much out of it. I think i may just mod it a bit more, maybe a new top end... Get rid of the power commander and get some bazzaz AFC.

If you bought a bike for resale value and are worried about the miles you are putting on it, then perhaps a bike is not for you?

I have an '07 R6 with over 58k miles that I purchased off the lot with 0. Don't look at the average bike for sale with < 5k miles and think that is high mileage. That is someone who bought a bike on a whim, decided riding is not for them and is now selling.

You don't see many high mileage bikes for sale because those bikes are being ridden by their owners, not being sold after a couple years or a few 1k miles.

I'm only at 12,600 miles. I still ride almost everyday just to cut back on gas and I do not hold back on riding it to save miles. But lower miles makes a better sale, and nothing contributed thus far pertains to my orginal question which is better, R1 or CBR1Krr.

Which bike is really about personal preference, fit and feel.

The performance difference between any factory 1k (or 600) can be measured in 10th's of a second on a track with a skilled rider. The average street rider is never going to notice this difference (let alone reach the bikes full potential).

What that means is, pick the bike that looks best to you and you feel most comfortable on. Those are the things you will notice.

I put nearly 12k miles on my bike the first year. I ride to ride, I don't ride worrying about the depreciation rate of each mile I add to my bike. As a rider, I am proud of every mile I put on my bike. I can't wait to hit 100k miles!

The same can be said about my Jeeps. I don't spend countless hours working on them and worrying about how I will never get the full value of the parts or hours I have put into them. I work on them because I enjoy wrenching and wheeling them.

Ya. if you think you can distinguish the difference between them you need to be in magazines. LOL. 12k? you kidding me? I had 27k in 6months on my 06 6ooRR. track days, cross country and some one wheel time. Ive had 600's-900's 1000's and stunt bikes geared to the sky. Ill never buy another 1k cuz they are useless power for what i ride. Do you really need marginally more power that you will hardly notice?

Honestly. Neither is better. Ride the bike you have. you are comfortable and confident on it and have NO miles on it. gear it some or change some other things. but why sell to buy another one. screw that. go ride

R1 will sit you more on your wrist than the honda.
honda will be more midrange grunt better for streets and average riding
R1 will be more topend so better for track or wide open roads.

BUT MARGINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have ya been on either? same seat time? how are peg position, clip ons, wb, tank to bars gap, balance in turn?

Those are far more important. And dont measure them to each other. measure them to your current ride

Funny you hate Kawi, the 05/06 zx-10 stock to stock with same rider will still beat almost any litre bike. on the road and track. just raw power.

I do lack seat time on both, thats why im asking around. I ride liter bikes cause im 6 foot 3 and 255 pounds, 600s lack leg room and lots of lag. In4aride, my buddy has a 06 zx10r, port polish, full exhaust, pc3 and smokes me, i just gate kawi and i need to be the fastest again...

Years ago the argument of wanting a liter bike for leg room came up on another forum. Someone took side views of the various bikes and also the actual measurements(seat, bars and pegs) and came to the conclusion that if anything the liter bikes are more cramped. The more RR of a bike you go with the more track oriented it is and there is nothing track oriented involving comfort.

Not that I care what anyone rides, whatever floats your boat but looking at the all the dimension of other bikes may help find something of comfort if that is a major factor.

I ride a liter plus bike, & have tried a few 600 class bikes, but the small bikes are not for me, I like to ride lazily & ride mountains, without screaming through the gears, & routinely ride 2up, & maybe have 500+lbs including luggage, try that on a 600 bike, yes it will haul it, but not relaxed, at low RPM, I normally manage 50+mpg even when doubling across mountains.

my hard fast riding days are over, I have nothing to prove, I have rode many hundreds of thousands of miles in my life, alot on older Harleys, or vintage Kawasakis, Hondas, 70's style bikes. my present ride is a 96 Kawasaki GPZ 1100, a sport touring machine. not been 90mph on it, believe it or not.

in my younger days I used to average 40,XXX + miles a year, now days around 10 to 15,XXX miles on 2 wheels a year, last year I only managed to get 9,XXX, but had a few problems, & no money to fix, & had broke a few ribs & went a couple months without riding.
