I recently bought a 2005 Wrangler- I unfortunately got the 4 speaker system- 2 in the dash and two in the sound bar.

I have seen some Jeeps advertised with the 7 speaker system. 1 speaker is the sub in the center console- where are the other 2 at? tweeters in the sound bar?

Anyone put an after market sub into the center console (of a 4 speaker system) and keep the stock stereo? If so suggestions?

TIA prl

do you want just a little bass or a bunch of bass? You CAN get a subwoofer to work off the factory head using a high to low level converter wired into 1 or 2 channels of your stereo. You could have a sub added intyo your center console, or you could get a lot of bass with a sealed enclosure in the back behind the rear seat. speakers facing outward towards the sides of the vehicle. if your interested in any more info just ask.

JeepinAudio- I am interested in whatever info you can share!

My center console has the grill and bracket where I can add a sub- I think an 8 inch. I do not want a lot of bass- just a touch. I had all the subs and amps in high school and now value space over speakers!

I vaguely remember attempting to hook up an amp to a stereo w/o audio output jacks and having to splice the amp wiring into every speaker in the car. Is that what you are talking about by 1 or 2 channels.

Where should I put the amp? in the console, under the seat (but h20/mud damage?) and what wattage should I use?

www.quadratec.com sells center consoles that house a sub -not sure if it works for the 2k5 TJ's though, you'll have to look
Probably your best/easiest bet...

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with that design on quadratec. I am still going to keep messing around with mine until I get something that I like.

The other two speakers would be tweeters mounted where the two are in the dash. They mount right in front of the top of the other two. The speaker that would go in the factory center console would actually only be a 6-1/2 inch woofer, not a true sub, but still packs a punch in the higher end of the bass range. In the stock setup it would be powered by a small amp with a low pass crossover so that its focused on playing the lower frequencies.
