Stupid solid works questions

I'm going through a extremely long tutorial on solid works.

One thing it didn't cover is Gussets on round pipe. Works fine on rectangular.
The other question I have is how do you get smart fasteners its always shaded on my toolbar.

I am not a member yet so I can't post on the advanced fab forum but I do work for a West Coast SolidWorks reseller so I wanted to help out with your questions.

You can't use the "gusset" tool in Solidworks on round pipe because it needs a flat, planar surface to work. You could create your own gussets by creating a plane in the middle of the pipe, doing a sketch and then using a mid-plane extrude though.

As for smart fasteners, that requires that you have a certain level of SolidWorks AND that you are in assembly mode. If those two conditions are not met, you won't be able to use it.
