I still got stuff to do too. This WJ swap was ill planned by myself. I started before I knew what I was getting into. You know, jump in head first...:twak: Now I'm going out of town on business all week and I'm gonna run out of time.
I'm thinking of putting all the stock stuff back on and just swapping the booster and MC and hope that does enough to get me decent brakes. Then after the CRAWL start fresh with a new D30 housing that's not a disco housing and rebuild it with WJ stuff.:wierd:
Gotta take time Saturday morning to bolt in the rear end. Then have to bleed brakes, and possibly plumb them for non ABS if it don't work right the first time.
Also need to secure a trailer.........:eyes:
got a broke to hell motor mount. mis matched seats and no brakes...
looks like ill be sportin the tj with the air conditioning! if i cant get these problems resolved... i would LOVE to bring the xj being that the tj is dads and he wont lemme beat on it like i do on my junk
still need to build the traction bar, bleed the brakes, install hood vents, install at least one mirror, build a set of limit straps, hook up axle vent tubes, rewire e- fan, hook up CB in tow rig, change oil in tow rig and plugs in Jeep. ugggg.
Axle swap done, gotta hammer out the brakes.:eeks1:
Literally, hit them with a hammer, think that'll work??:laugh3:
Gots me a trailer!
Gotsta get all my gear together.....
I just need to go over the jeep... just check it over real good. Maybe make a trip to Aetna before then, i don't know.
But... i do have a tow rig to get ready! it needs: -brake hard lines replaced (dad wants all of them redone), and probably soft lines too -new belts -air filter -change oil -probably coolant flush, check hoses -fix leaking injectors, hopefully with a seal kit, and not buying new ones... -check/replace glow plugs -replace wiper blades -figure out why lights don't work -buy and install hitch -buy and install brake box
...and i need to get my own trailer! because i'm tired of borrowing other peoples, and i really hate swapping tires! (and thanks to all who have dealt with me, and helped with that on previous trips... :clap
i am just about there... been busy the past couple weeks; and have gotten a good bit taken care of...
...on trail rig
-swapped out both output seals on the Dana 18 (no more leaky or smoke)
-checked some bolts for tightness.
...on tow rig
-topped off fluids
-changed oil
-fixed lights
-replaced wiper blades
-replaced fan clutch
-had radiator cleaned and recondtioned, and reinstalled
-installed receiver hitch
-installed brake control box
...bought a trailer
...modified trailer
...made a test drive to knoxville with tow rig/trailer/XJ to see how the truck would do before the crawl.
...helped install a set of THORs
and started gathering stuff for the crawl
and still TO DO:
-CB in tow rig
-air filter in tow rig
-pack stuff
-buy food
Still have to replace the main shaft in the transfercase, swap rear axle, finish the bedliner so I can install the rock rails, and do an oil change/top off fluids. Yikes! :wierd:
