Stuck in Victorville with broken clutch hydraulics

Does anyone know of a supplier that carries stock of Omix-Ada clutch master cylinders and slave cylinders within 200 miles of Victorville, CA?

Rachel's TJ needs the parts but Jeep won't let their dealers in the USA sell me RHD parts. I reckon this is so that Jeep dealers in the UK can charge a small fortune for parts when their customers need them.

Anyway, as far as I can tell the only difference in the OEM Jeep parts for LHD and RHD clutch hydraulics is the interconnecting pipe length as the OEM parts are prefilled with fluid and pre-bled.

Omix-Ada sell the parts separately for both RHD and LHD but require bleeding after assembly which as far as I know is not always successful, and can take a few attempts to get right.

I have purchased Omix-Ada part 16907.04 online from www.discountjeepparts.com but I have no idea when they will arrive despite paying for overnight shipping. If anyone knows of a supplier that carries stock of Jeep clutch hydraulics for a 2001 Wrangler I would be very grateful.

A small local transmission shop in Victorville (Central Transmissions & Services) have tried very hard to find the parts today but they can only get the slave cylinder from some place in Palm Springs. We have been calling places like Autozone, Napa, Carquest and Kragen ourselves but none have these parts in stock until early January.

Just spoke to Mike Rollins and he may be able to help us. He will know for sure tomorrow. Thanks Mike, we owe you.

Ok, I gotta ask after stating the only difference between RH and LH drive is the length of the Bundy tubing to the slave cylinder and you still haven't figured out to throw the wrong length tube away and just install the new slave and move on? Hmmm could this finally boil down to a automatic V stick intelligence question? :D

Rollins will have the part on Thursday. I know there's not much to do in Victorville, so I'm gonna go up there and take Vince and Rachel over to Calico to play around a bit.

If anyone wants to come along, we'll be at the trailhead at about 8:30 am.

Would this be on Doran, Oddesa, Wall street or Mule canyons?

You could go down to El Mirage. Its just up the 395 from Victorville. There's some good places around there to wheel. If they get any rain, the dry lake bed might be some fun too.

Stay off the lakebed if it rains!!!

Could be worse. You could be stuck in Hesperia. Hasta

<ducking>

It was another beautiful day of wheeling. A little cold and windy. But clear and sunny.

We went up to take a look at Lower Doran. Looks a bit different from the past. Neither Vince or I felt comfortable trying it. We'll let Remi try first.

We took the bypass around and did the rest of Doran, then headed down Odessa. We then did a short loop around Mule Canyon.

Vince and Rachel are fun people to wheel with. They're both very good drivers and Rachel is an excellent spotter.

I'll post some pics tomorrow night. I'm not home right now and I'll be visiting Mickey all day tomorrow.

I'll be up there this weekend. Hopefully I can get some footage of the Trailblazers giving Lower Doran their best.

Looks like they got everything fixed

Dunno if this idea will work or not, but it might be worth a shot.

Order the parts from a Jeep dealer in Ireland for shipment to the US. Irish VAT is 21.5%, but they should be sent out duty-free since they're going outside of the EU. Let me know if you need any help with this and I can get my folks to lend a hand since they're still there.

Yup, they're on the way to Moab...finally.
