Strange Silence

In addition to your source's ignorance, He also makes no valid point. Have you never heard of non-denominational Christians?

Once again I'll say just because he isn't what you view as a Christian doesn't mean he is not.

You appear to be saying that: what Christ taught in the NT doesn't provide a basic understanding of what constitutes Christianity... correct?

What Breivik did -vs- what Christ taught in the NT aren't even remotely close, bro... why wouldn't "non-denominational" Christians agree on this one?

Mathew 7:16-20

You appear to be desperately trying to get a footing because you have nothing. I'm sorry for your loss, MHNATY.

Why do you only include the NT as the basis for how you should live? If you just want to disregard a whole testament, why is it even in the bible? I would say that I, and most other Christians would agree that Christ would not teach this, but the OT God most definitely would.

It seems very odd that I find myself frequently on the side of non-Christians in religious threads on here. I realize that the religion I practice has its flaws, and also contains many parts I choose to not practice. I also realize that the majority of people in the world are decent people who have many of the same dreams as you or I, regardless of religion. It is a sad fact that extremists ruin things for many of us, but classifying groups of many by the actions of few is the exact definition of bigotry. :peace:

Agreed

You have just proven my point. He may not be a perfect christian, but he is a christian, fighting for christian ideals.

If you are trying to prove the point that this deranged individual claims to be Christian i.e. follower of Christ's example and doctrine, done. This is his claim.

There are no perfect Christians on the Earth, fwiw.

Having read through much of his manifesto, he seems to focus on the socio-political history between Christians and Muslims, Marxism and very little on actual Christian doctrine.

What Christian ideals was he fighting to uphold? Please be specific.

Breivik is not an American-style evangelical Christian. He is not a "fundamentalist" in that sense. Though he does identify with American cultural Christian conservatives. And he considers himself to be fighting in the name of "our Christian cultural heritage." He supports a reconstituted Knights Templar devoted to winning a war against Islam in the name of Christianity.

Enough, or shall I post more>

I know what he said, his attempts to justify his actions and ultimately, murder innocent people.

Perhaps I should lower the bar for you.........

Ideal
1. a conception of something in its perfection.
2. a standard of perfection or excellence.
3. a person or thing conceived as embodying such a conception or conforming to such a standard, and taken as a model for imitation

Christian ideals would be to strive for perfection, model ones actions after those of Jesus Christ, live ones life after the standard that Christ set.

So, what are you asking? Something that you can glean for yourself reading his manifesto?
Or do you just want to argue?

So since he's follower of Christ he's Christian, glad you came to solve this conundrum.

Just because he doesn't do it to your standard doesn't mean he isn't.
Not my standard. To follow Christ means to strive to be like Christ. I don't recall Christ ever once murdering anyone. Hell, even the Old Testament draws a line between killing and murder. The word used in the 10 Commandments (Thou shalt not kill) is more accurately translated as murder.
It's actually an I. It stands for American Insurgent.

People usually think my name is AL :D that's why I put the AI below my name.
My bad, didn't even notice that.

Dang I got caught up on the 1.

Why did you have to go and stick me with 420, that's not very nice. And here I thought I was the only one that was so quick to judge.

I never said religion is a fairly tale, and why would I that's not what I believe.
Your comments lead me to an apparent incorrect conclusion.
Now just consider what you have posted their. Like really go back and read that to yourself. Honestly, I go to church nearly every Sunday, and this just seems like a mindset that is logically unsound.

Being open minded does not mean you have to flip flop your religious views every other day, or attempt to hold two conflicting religious views at the same time. It simply means to consider them.
I considered the alternatives to the Bible being right before I became Christian. This was what made sense to me. I'm not saying to be completely close minded about any other idea, but if one is an atheist, one has most likely examined the different religions and decided that none made sense. I can hope that talking to an atheist about Christianity may change his mind, but it's not up to me to change his mind. It has to be a decision on his part. As a Christian, if I have room for doubt about God and the Bible, there's a chance that when it matters most, I'll have a moment of doubt and fail. I don't want to fail, so I lock out doubt.

Mind you I'm open to be convinced that another rig might be better off-road or that my political views may be off.

I asked you to specifically identify the killers Christian ideals, which you have failed to do.

Not sure why I expected anything different from you......stay cool and have a fun summer.

Why should I? Too lazy to figure it out for yourself?
That was not the point of the post. It was to confirm his identity as a christian, if only in his own mind, which I have done. I think you just like to argue/get in the last word.:rattle: Say le vie. (or something like that.)
Now go watch fox (news?)
You might be missing some talking points to parrot.

I guess totally missed your point. FWIW, I don't subscribe to Fox. Speaking of parrots, Huffpo stock is at an all time low.......according to the WSJ.

If there was no god then there would be no atheist.

Regardless of what he claimed to be he was in fact not a christian. Claiming to be ____ and/or believing you are a ____ does not make you a ______.

Fill the blanks in with what ever religion you choose as I am not here to tell anyone what they have to do or judge anyone for what they believe. Oh and one more thing if the highjackers of 9/11 would of claimed to be morman would we be forced to believe they were because its what they claimed??? just some food for thought

If this Norwegian was not a christian terrorist, then OBL was not a muslim terrorist.

No I had it Right with "GOD" is the correct term. To not believe in religion but to believe in a GOD maybe not the same I believe in but one in any way means that you are NOT Atheist. Therefore if you do believe in a supreme being just not organized religion then you in your own argument are not what you claim to be!

Don't put thoughts in my head, or words in my mouth.

I don't believe in god, and I never said I did. I don't follow any religion. I think that defines me as an athiest. I really don't care what you call it.
Clear?

I was basing my last comment on the fact that you changed my post to read how you wanted it to. If you believe in no supreme being then yes you are Atheist and therefore I stand corrected. I would however ask why would you feel the need to change the word GOD to religion in my post?

420 started the thread to push the anti-religion propaganda that the Progressive media is spouting. When confronted with facts, you immediately whipped up some strawmen to avoid providing facts to back up your implied claim that the killers association with Christianity led him to perpetrate these evil acts.

You attempt to use his words to support your claims, when his actions contradict the ideals of Christianity. He clearly stated in his manifesto that “As for the Church and science, it is essential that science takes an undisputed precedence over biblical teachings.”

He also states that Regarding my personal relationship with God, I guess I’m not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic.” of which you chose to ignore, as it disproves your claims.

I submit that while you chose to not practice religion, you do follow religion, and like many "athiest", look for any opportunity to poke fun at, demonize or minimalize it, which somehow makes you feel better about yourself.

Because I think that if their was no religion, there would be no anti religion, like atheism.
Kinda like if there is no god, there is no devil.

No-one knows if there is a god, or not, not even atheists. It is a belief. Or lack thereof. Same thing with religion. Religious beliefs do not insure that there is a god.
I think most believers in god do so because they are afraid not to. Letting their irrational fear of death/unknown drive their thinking pattern.
Lights out when you die is just not a concept believers can wrap their minds around. I have no problem with it.
