STEERING RECOMENDATIONS

yep you need to raise the trackbar bracket over the axle. I would imagine bump steer is scary along with other crappy handling possibly.

Couldn't you just lower the frame side bracket instead?

NO. if your frame side track bar and drag link are mostly dialed, this will only make things worse, probably way worse to have both sides that far off. you would also need a massive drop pitman arm to account for the drop in the track bar as well.

This crossover setup is modeled after the factory WJ and JK's I believe.

WJ and JK both have a seperate arm on the knuckle.

The u-turn kit looks like there are bolt on brackets with a seperate arm for the drag link. Looks shitty to me.

If you are looking for a bulletproof bolt on steering set-up, buy the currie. Seems like you are trying to argue in favor of this set-up when the majority of posts about the kit are negative in nature.

I put a new track bar on but i am still running stock track bar bracket for now and stock pitman arm. do i need: -drop pitman arm and steering box brace if i run a new track bar bracket?

3.5-4 inch of lift.

If you run a double sheer bracket like the Rubicon Express one you shouldn't need to. It is designed to keep the stock geometry so your angles should remain the same. I ran the RE bracket and track bar with my Currie steering and stock pitman arm and it worked just fine.

I just want the best steering for my application.. not going to bat for this one. Just trying to decipher between the two.

like everyone has told you, the curry is the best, simplest, strongest, out of the box, don't have to reinvent the wheel, bulletproof, steering setup out there.
if you don't like the curry then just buy what you like.
when what you buy gives you problems & you ask why, think back to the advise that the majority of the guys have given you in this thread, which it to buy the curry setup & be done with it.

No need to wag the finger now, I haven't bought anything. I like the Currie setup minus the pricey TRE's but I can overlook that as its the better product. I was always a little suspect that more people weren't running that uturn.

It is much better to ask these questions now, rather than after you buy it. I was having a hard time trying to figure out what your intentions were. Sounds like you are going the right direction now.

no on the drop pitman arm. you don't need that unless you get real nutty. you will be fine with the currie steering and a normal bolt on track bar mount.

steering box bracing is never a bad idea, but I wouldnt stress over it until you lock the front. that being said, it should be on your long run to-do list to brace the box no matter what you do. Do it sooner than later .

I'm another vote for the Currie Steering setup. I bought mine used from Shark Mark and it never gave me any troubles. Carried spare TREs but never needed them.

I run the Currie with 6.5" lift, RE track bar, stock pitman, and track bar and steering box braces. No issues after a couple years of hard wheeling. I did bend my tie rod on the first trip but have straightened it and added an OTT flip for more clearance. Extended sway bar mounts may be necessary.

That make 2 incidents I know of for bent tierods on Currie. I've bashed the crap out of my UTK setup and never bent... still can't drive straight on the high way though. :)

Re the U-turn setup:
If you google some pictures you can see the brackets not only bolt to 2 wheel bearing bolts but to the stock knuckle steering arm also. Seems like that would be even stronger than stock. I like it. The downside is that what they call high-steer is only about 1/2" higher than stock. I think they're on the right track but this isn't quite perfect yet.
