Steel prices in Bay Area

I would prefer the smaller, thick walled box to a larger box with thinner walls. You're planning on having this box for a long time so you should be sure that it's the box you want and you are going to be happy. I am very satisfied with the box that I have gotten.

Phil's right, I really want a small box rather than a large box. Usually, but not always, a large box is better than no box at all.

Sometimes when you have a large box you can turn it around then get the suport to cross over it self, sometimes this can make a large box not feel so large.

Any box is good as long as there is no rust.


I got my boxed steel at Alco also. You gotta love the free cuts and the crew was pretty helpful as well.

Anyone looking for steel in the North Bay are there is a place called Reliable Steel and hardware, and they have good prices on steel. They give the same price whither or not you are a normal customer, shop, or contractor. They have a nice sized steel yard too.

I use Sims in San Jose or Bormans Steel in East Palo Alto. Bormans is really clean, huge selection and I think they can shear the steel rather then torch it so it comes out nicer. Bormans is only open during the week though.
