Spring Wrenchfest

Hate I won't be able to make this one. Between trying to get my Jeep ready for the crawl, and finding a free day to help Glenn work on the boy's XJ, it's going to be pretty busy right up to July 4th.

Take lots of do-work pictures!

Anyone interested in getting together at the shop to do some pre-Crawl wrenching and vehicle maintenance?

Timbo! The whole purpose of the wrenchfest is getting the Jeep ready for the crawl (even though I am not going, yeah, I know). So bring it son. Bring Glenn and the junk he's working on too. If the work day runs 24 hours long, so be it!!!

That would be a looooong haul in the Jeep for basic maint. And an even longer haul for Glenn for an evaporator replacement. Especially since he's trailer-less right now.

Im game if off when the date is set.

Lets see.......
1. I have a front winch bumper I would like help installing
2. A rear custom bumper
3. Need to figure out the front track issue (either drill and relocate or get my adjustable track bar to work.)
4. Need to figure out how to do a SYE later down the road to get rid of my vibes
5. Have the oil filter neck leak........ need to get the parts from Jeep and get this done. Hate those small drips in the driveway

my sister lives in murfreesboro...do you guys think you could install a radiator in

I have swapped in 3-4 rads on the 6 XJ's I have owned. I am actually thinking about pulling mine out and getting a 3 core Alum one so might be swapping another one.
Im open alot next week if she still needs it done and can get it to me in spring hill....
I would like to see the head swap as I want to do my 2001 motor soon.

Right now June 15th is the date we are going with.
Please post up what projects everyone wants to work on so we can plan the day.

I will look at the work schedule and see if Im off. I think I am as Im volunteering at the 4H camp the 17-21

Looking forward to this. Already started packing stuff in the Jeep. Pulled two almost brand new Chevy 1500 brake lines at the pull a part on Lebanon Pike yesterday. Good stuff!

Also, took out the spare WJ door I had in the back room and did some practice cuts so I know what to expect when I drill into my pristine hood!

Was at the junkyard yesterday and they had a mid-80s New Yorker Turbo with the vents already missing. Turned around and they had a mid-80s LeBaron convertible on the forklift. Stood there waiting on them to set it down to see if it had vents, and it didn't. I was going to grab them for you Ed!

What time are we getting started? 8ish? I'll plan on being there early so we can get mine on the lift first and get the brake lines and exhaust welding done. Then I can back it out and free up the lift for the day while I work on the hood vents.

Did we decide on what we want to do for food?

We can start as eary as you want, I'll probably be out there by 7am.

My wife said we have 80 hot dogs we can grill so I'll supply those.

Sweet! I'll be there probably around 10, as it's a long run for me from bowling green. I can bring chips, and maybe something else? I'll bring all the parts and tools needed to do my axle swap. Should I bring jackstands, or will the lift be available?

I have some jackstands we can use.

Just doing dogs? I'll bring a couple dozen buns. I'll try to be there around 7:30 - 8:00. Ed, post up your address again, please. I'm bringing the girls. Will Ollie and Jack be there? Mark, I know the girls would love to see Addison, too!

She'll be at church camp then. If she wasn't I know she'd like to see the girls too.

I'll be up there early also to make sure things are ready.

We can do burgers too, just need somebody to bring them.

Everyone should be here.

I also will need the interntal torx tool for the upper control arms, I forgot that I don't have those. I'm gonna try to get some bushings changed, and maybe some fresh brake pads before the 15th so my ordeal will be plug and play.

Hey all,

It looks like Ill be off from work that day (June 15, right?)...of course, thats provided that they dont change my schedule (yet again!).

Anyway, is there any time to do a rear axle assembly swap? I have the C8.25 in the xj that is of unknown origin and want to swap in a known 29 spline (plus the current rear end has at least one bad wheel bearing in the rear). This would also be working toward my "man on a ledge" thread...I just swapped in a d30 on the front and that didnt cure my pulling issue.

Hope this works out :)

I think I'll go ahead and knock out my hood vents here at the house since it is a one person job. With a few axles to fit over the course of the day, my hands can be more useful there. I'll still want to do a quick weld on my exhaust and the brake lines. Those should be the quickest jobs of the day.
