Someone tried to break into my Jeep in Sumter SC

I was awakened around 1am to the sound of my alarm going off on the Cherokee. I walked outside to find the passenger side ventvisor broken off and the window pushed down about 4" and the door partially ajar.

Apparently some idiot thought they could break in but didn't know I had an alarm. They also didn't realize they left fingerprints on the window which I had just cleaned recently. The investigator for the Sumter County Sheriff was very happy to have those.

I was fortunate that the alarm scared them off and they didn't take anything. Needless to say I am really ticked off right now. We just closed on the new house earlier today and this was supposed to be one our last nights at the house we've been staying in.

Good to hear nothing was stolen, sounds like that alarm just paid for itself!

At least it didn't happen at your new house!

This stuff is going to happen more and more with the economy the way it is and drug use on the increase. My Jeeps are either in the garage or parked right outside my bedroom window and a loaded 12 gauge lays by my side at night!

I won't shoot someone unless they break into my house but i will scare the hell out of them if i catch them around my Heeps.

Those fingerprints mean nothing unless it was grand larceny, or someone was killed

I guess i really need to get an alarm. Glad it saved you from more than a broken window.

Sad to say i agree with Jon about things not getting better anytime soon.

Sorry to hear that man.

Just because it wasn't grand larceny doesn't mean they won't at least dump the prints into the system. If it was a dude with a prior, that makes it easy.

Someone needs to make an alarm system that when activated, sprays pepper spray out of the sliders. That'll put them down.

Hey Kevin you go out the door locked and loaded? Let me know if you need help again. :) I agree that we are going to see more of this. I believe we may even see some things none of us have ever dreamed of seeing. :eyes:

your right but what is nice is the fact that the deputy will take those prints back and put them in the system, even if it doesn't catch them, it will be another violation/crime they can tack on the next time he gets caught which will increase his sentence... even if it doesn't help the current situation.

Someone broke into my last car, and from smashing the window I was able to get a nice blood sample, they threw it in the trash at the police station (and my car was one of FIVE that night in the same lot)

Sorry to hear that dude.

Mine was broken into last April two weeks before my birthday. It was in the parking lot right outside my apartment window (lived on campus last year). Woke up that morning and forgot I had left a pen in my console, went to grab it on the way to my 8am class, opened the passenger door and saw my dash torn apart, radio gone, broken window on the back drivers side door. Fortunately insurance paid for my window in full (got it installed the same day) and paid for a new radio. I took the money from the other damages (aftermarket window tint, the dome light they busted...etc) and put it towards my alarm.

Atleast now with the alarm, if it gets broken into again, my remote will go off and I got a better chance at catching them.

The south is the wrong place to be stealing peoples things. We got guns and $h!t.

A 12 gauge with some oo buck shot the best Jeep defense weapon you can have. Thieves just realize we know the places deep in the woods where thier bodies will never be found.
