Some advice on finding an MJ

Nice man! Welcome to the p.o.s.t. club :) It wouldn't be a fun project without some challenges.

Piece of chit truck. (What mine was named by coworkers). Said jokingly of course... I think you found a much better MJ.

Grats on the no rust, you're right, the challenges seem simple and should make a great DD.

Mine is headed a different direction:firedevil due to the ungodly amount of corrosion.

I guess when he said the price you bought it. No wonder it wasn't there for me to take pictures.

Congrats on the MJ. While the paint may not be great (get rid of those skull things by the doors), the truck is straight and rust free. Oh yeah, turn the grill over.

For the idle, take out and clean the IAC. Chances are it has a ton of carbon buildup on it causing it to stick.

Ha, yeah. Yours is a big ole rust bucket. Of course, for $300, you can't really go wrong.

Yeah, I offered him 800, and he took 900. I figure that with all things considered, it's a pretty good deal.

I will absolutely get rid of the skulls. They are uuuugggggglllllyyyyyy.

Do the old RENIX's have CCVs or are they PCV? I wouldn't be surprised if it's all clogged up, contributing to the bad idle and serious oil leaks.

It's just weird how it'll drive perfect, then when I park and put it in 'P', it revvs up real high.

Glad you found one. Ed was telling me about it and then the next day he said it was gone. At least it found a good home.

yeah, when I called they guy, I started asking him questions and for an address where it was located. He was really confused, because he didn't know I hadn't seen the truck yet.

Where did you have to go to get it? It was parked near I-840 and Broad St/Hwy 41 in Murfreesboro but the number was a 931 area code.

I picked it up right where it was on Broad; by they Harley place.

there is an area in Mid TN that also uses a 931 area code ... Columbia area, I think.

Was it on Broad street, close to a Harley shop?

Yes, that was it. I thought it looked like a good little truck. I likes the fact that it has a 4.0 and auto. That should be a nice combo. The only thing that would have made it better would be if it was a 4x4.

Werd. I know I'm missing some vacuum hoses and junk. Probably why it idles like crap.

i would plug all of them and see how it runs then, itll damn near run perfect with most of the sensors and vac lines unhooked so long as its not leaking

haha. Seems like it would run like even more poop. I was going to restore it to the OEM set-up; but if I can simplify it, get it to run better, and not worry about breaking anything then I'll def. do it that way.
