Your assumptions on who I regard as enemies......and you obviously know little (or choose to deny the true intent) about these organizations and what they stand for.

I'm against what they stand for, I don't hate the individuals because they want to turn America's Republic into another failed Socialist/Communist society.

Papers? Is there one that isn't part of the Progressive propaganda machine? Same goes for network television.

Run for office? Meehh.

There are plenty of credible sources of info, I don't need to start my own. Onion = unbiased information.......you really want to take a stand on that?

I love onions.....in fact, I had rings for lunch today with my cheese steak sammy.

Young Communist League USA-Communist Party USA website......their words, not mine.

I find it interesting that they bring up Iraq, Cuba, Venezuela, and China.....all countries who's people who have suffered for decades/centuries under Communist dictatorships, leaders who are directly responsible for the murders of their own people who don't agree with their ideology or stand up for their God-given rights and freedoms.

Here's a dated summary of how Communism has benefited the people of the world who have lived under it's black cloud of oppression.

Democide: The murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder.

But anyways, back to the topic of spending other people's money. I say let's get rid of everything. Let's get rid of the police, I can deal with people intruding on my property (cops, K9s, cars and choppers cost money - my money). I can put out my own fires too, so we don't need a pricey fire department either. School funding's for suckers with kids; since I don't have kids those little a-holes can fend for themselves without the benefit of my money. As for roads... let the guy with the corvette worry about them

You can have that now. Move to Somalia. In fact...please...do us all a favor and move there.

Like teaching a blind dog to fetch.......:confused1

not in this thread anyways

lol, yeah, all those people are out to destroy the fabric of society.

The EU has hit the wall and are an estimated 2 yrs ahead of the USA, so we can complacently watch our future unfold across the pond, or pro-actively take the painful yet neccessary steps to minimize the fallout and return to Constitutional principles and values. Social entitlement programs will be the demise of our Republic, as predicted by our founders………..less government = more freedom and prosperity.

Tocqueville observed that in democratic ages, individuals would generally love the power of government even if they despised the particular policies enacted, for they will be invariably attracted by the possibility that the power of the state could be wielded in behalf of their own interests. Even those who descry the expansion of the state will be sorely tempted to employ the state’s power “just this once.” As Tocqueville put it,
such men will freely admit the general principle that the power of the state should not interfere in private affairs, but as an exception, each one of them wants the state to help in the special matter with which he is preoccupied, and he wants to lead the government on to take action in his domain, though he would like to restrict it in every other direction. As a multitude of people, all at the same moment, take this particular view about a great variety of different purposes, the sphere of the central government insensibly spreads in every direction, although every individual wants to restrict it.
Thus, although centralization is not embraced as a general principle, individuals favor it when their special interests are at issue. In light of this dynamic, Tocqueville argues that it is merely a matter of time before a democratic people find themselves ruled by a centralized state, one tasked by its constituents with graciously bestowing gifts on all who live under its omni-benevolent shadow.
Of course, such a condition is not sustainable and the era of endless gifts from the state must end with a severe contraction. The entitlement crunch is coming to America just as surely as it is now shaking Europe. The longer we wait to deal with the issue, the more the “austerity measures” are going to hurt.

England has a motion pending to have your employer just send your paycheck to the government, then they will send you what they think you should have. :flame:

England has a motion pending to have your employer just send your paycheck to the government, then they will send you what they think you should have. :flame:

and you actually believe that would happen here?

Remember it was colonists (born here so let's just call them the 1st Americans of European descent) that revoluted against England. We did it once when we didn't like what was happening, who is to say we wouldn't revolt against an English idea here again?

Walmart is having a special, buy some more reynolds wrap.

The key to preventing from the exact thing events that are occuring in the EU from happening in America is to first recognize that the Progressive/Socialist/Communist leaders that are currently running our government are making laws and policies that are identical to what the EU is reeling from, right now.

Pick a topic....unsustainable debt, record unemployment, universal healthcare, massive social entitlement, union control......it's all here in the US, right now.

Tax refund checks in the form of IOU's..... how many states are bankrupt? Time to wake up, folks......the country is next.

I believe that the goal of the Socialists in Washington is to do just this. If not, why else would they further jeopordize our fragile economy by threatening to levee tarriffs against goods imported from China?

This exact action is what helped make the Depression of the early 1900's into The Great Depression.

The Great Depression was exacerbated in part due to the "Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act," which was passed in 1930. Like a new tariff on China, it sought to make U.S. exports more competitive.
It didn't work, because it merely ignited a trade war, with other nations retaliating through new tariffs on U.S. goods. It also made imports more expensive for Americans.

China currently holds the majority of our country's debt, so this action...or the threat of this action could cripple the US economy in a matter of days.

One must ask yourself: Why would our leaders, who are constantly spouting off about economic growth and job creation, do something that has been proven to have the exact opposite effect?

Say one thing and do another? Call good evil and evil good?

HOPE and CHANGE………all you can eat.

I'm still saving for my trip to Hawaii.....guess I should just quit my job and go on Welfare, so ya'll can pay my way.

John Haley, commander of the financial crimes division of the San Diego County district attorney’s office, who said 24% of all new welfare applications in his jurisdiction contain some form of fraud. “We look for patterns of abuse.”

Interesting article, hit some of the local fish wraps also. Three things came to mind.

1. With State & County workers being furloughed 2-3 days per month it is a little difficult to thoroughly check all applications, hence "we look for patterns of abuse"

2. At the time the story broke on the radio it was reported that the ATM card payment system was out sourced to a private (code word for "For Profit") company, but I have been unable to verify that.

3. It is possible that the parents of the folks on AFDC paid for their childrens vacations to out of state locales.

but....the point of contention that is probably lost on most people who read the article is the out of state spending was roughly 1%. There sure is a lot of people here on welfare and they are not all native Californians or illegal aliens.

Just talked with the mechanics shop steward about a grievance and as we were wrapping that up he told me he attended this rally. Said it was a good experience to be among people who cared for their fellow Americans.

Therein lies the problem and chronic misunderstanding regarding my position against Unions and the like. The average union working in a model American citizen. I have no issue with the average union worker.

Move up the chain.....

"out-of-state spending accounts for less than 1 percent of the state’s $10.8 billion welfare fund......."

1 percent of $10.8 billion is $108,000,000

How many needy families would this feed for a year......folks who actually want to work, want to be self-sustaining and have a desire to improve themselves and not rely on the welfare system long-term?

Yeah...to me it is not the out of state spending, it is not the $108M, it is the $10.8 billion. That is a whole lot of freeway repair not occurring. That is a whole lot of education spending that is not occurring. That is a whole lot of job creation not occurring.

Fed Officials Mull Inflation as a Fix

"It's a big mistake," said Allan Meltzer of Carnegie Mellon University, a central bank historian. "Higher inflation is not going to solve our problem. Any gain from that experience would be temporary," adding that the economy would suffer later.

Others warn that pushing inflation higher than the target could create public confusion and risk fueling financial bubbles and market instability.

They say Fed policy already is weakening the dollar and as a result prompting a gold and commodity boom. "The Fed is treading upon a mine-laden path that has never been tip-toed through in this country," said Andrew Busch, a currency strategist at BMO Capital Markets.

Our current situation:

Bad: 1-2% GDP growth and an increase to 10% unemployment

Very Bad: Double-dip recession, based on Bush tax cut expiring and declining home prices

If you are not already familiar with the Weimar Republic in pre-Nazi Germany, having a clear understanding of what happened to their economy and recognizing the parallels to our current US economy will provide valuable insight as to what we can expect to take place in the near future........if we fail to learn from history, it will be repeated.

I was just playing a late game of "Connect the Dots".......

  • WASHINGTON (AP) - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is urging the International Monetary Fund to play a bigger role in monitoring how countries manage their currencies.
  • Geithner told the IMF's top policy committee on Saturday that the 187-nation lending institution must speak more forcefully about exchange rate policies. Geithner's remarks are the latest effort by the United States to bring more pressure on China to allow its currency to rise in value against the dollar. American manufacturers believe China is unfairly manipulating its currency to gain trade advantages.
Tax-dodger Timmy needs to wake up and smell the tea..........China has the US by the short hairs.....and Tim wants the US to print more money and sell more of the US debt to China.

  • In its first Global Wealth Report, Credit Suisse predicts that total household wealth in China could more than double to $35 trillion by 2015 from $16.5 trillion at the moment. China currently is third in terms of the total share of global wealth after the U.S. and Japan, at $54.6 trillion and $21 trillion respectively, and is 35% ahead of France, the wealthiest European country

  • Mr Soros, the hedge fund manager best known as the man who broke the Bank of England” after he made a billion betting against the value of Sterling on Black Wednesday in 1992, said the China had created a “lopsided currency” system.
  • He criticised China for deliberately keeping the yuan - its currency - low in order to keep exports cheap, which is hurting US competitors.
  • He said China could also influence the value of other world currencies because they have a “chronic trade surplus”, which means the Chinese have a lot of foreign currencies. “They control not only their own currency but actually the entire global currency system,” he said.

Problem is, if they let the yuan float, we end up spending more dollars to get the same junk from them. So they end up with even more of our money. I can only hope that they let the yuan float and it results in people buying more American products instead, but I am afraid this won't happen.
