The subject matter itself is only as reliable as a sources (not Jeff but the linked sources). Finding untainted information on politics or even current events is getting tougher and tougher these days. Sources quoted on this thread have very limited reputation because of the ultra extreme bias and the agenda these sources are pushing.

Look, its politics, did you expect it to be anything less? If we all agreed it wouldn't be politics.

Is Mr. Williams way off-base in reporting that the DSA is working with the hope of dramatically changing America? The answer to that question is found in the stated beliefs of the Democratic Socialists of America.

A publication written by the DSA titled “What is Democratic Socialism? Questions and Answers from the Democratic Socialists of America” explains their agenda for America.

The DSA’s view of private corporations:

“In the short term we can’t eliminate private corporations, but we can bring them under greater democratic control.”

On the notion that a Socialist society would create a lack of desire to work:

“Although a long-term goal of socialism is to eliminate all but the most enjoyable kinds of labor, we recognize that unappealing jobs will long remain. These tasks would be spread among as many people as possible rather than distributed on the basis of class, race, ethnicity, or gender, as they are under capitalism. And this undesirable work should be among the best, not the least, rewarded work within the economy.”

Targeting America’s youth in promoting a socialist agenda:

“Young people are needed in today’s struggles as well: for universal health care and stronger unions, against welfare cuts and predatory multinational corporations. Schools, colleges and universities are important to American political culture. They are the places where ideas are formulated and policy discussed and developed. Being an active part of that discussion is a critical job for young socialists.”

How does the DSA propose to pay for a Socialist USA?

“Most advanced industrial democracies provide these goods through progressive taxation, control of health care costs (either by providing publicly funded national health insurance or regulated insurance options offered by nonprofit health care providers), and the expenditure of a smaller portion of their GDP on the military than does the United States.”

Today, the U.S. District Court of Appeals ruled against an enforcement action by the Federal Communications Commission against Comcast’s network management practices. The decision provides an important check on the FCC’s regulatory authority and may limit its ability to impose significant new regulations on the internet to promote “net neutrality.” Specifically, the court questioned the FCC’s assertion that it had the authority to regulate the network management practices of internet providers.

His agenda is as follows:
  • FCC should step around the Constitutional political process and force stations to comply to the FCC's new regulations, instead of waiting for regualtory laws to be passing in Congress. (remember, the Federal Court ruled the FCC's actions un-Constitutional in April 2010)
  • FCC should determine "Public Value Test", requires stations to pass their test or lose their license.
  • FCC should control ethenic diversity and ethenic ownership and management.....feels that they are responsible to enforce Social Justice in the broadcasting industry.
  • FCC should determine what is broadcast, what is deemed of educational value, who is allowed to broadcast.
I guess we really don't need that pesky First Amendment anymore......

How many more times do I have to say this......better yet, does Obama's cabinet members have to say it?

They are Socialists, they want Socialism, their policies support and promote Social justice, wealth re-distribution and they seek to divide individuals by race.....all in opposition to the US Constitution.

America, our country is rapidly being methodically changed to resemble a Dictatorship that our ancestors gave their lives fighting against.

The gave up all they had to become free men again.......what are YOU willing to sacrifice to keep our great country Free?

Louise Gray at The Telegraph discusses one of the proposals; government rationing of goods, and a halt in economic growth in the "rich world",

This would mean a drastic change in lifestyles for many people in countries like Britain as everyone will have to buy less ‘carbon intensive’ goods and services such as long haul flights and fuel hungry cars. Prof Anderson admitted it “would not be easy” to persuade people to reduce their consumption of goods He said politicians should consider a rationing system similar to the one introduced during the last “time of crisis” in the 1930s and 40s.This could mean a limit on electricity so people are forced to turn the heating down, turn off the lights and replace old electrical goods like huge fridges with more efficient models. Food that has traveled from abroad may be limited and goods that require a lot of energy to manufacture. “The Second World War and the concept of rationing is something we need to seriously consider if we are to address the scale of the problem we face,” he said."

It is certainly the case that in the U.S. the real stuff of politics and governance occurs through the two mass political parties. Here is where the action is and it is here, mainly through the vehicle of the Democratic Party, that the peoples' movement fights for its interests. Serious politics cannot stand apart from these struggles...

For the foreseeable future Democratic Party circles will be an area of engagement for those wanting to make a difference.

That said, even with the growth of newly independent forces operating within the Democratic Party, it’s hard to see how the role of a communist party could be realized within these confines. Electoral work by itself cannot be understood as constituting the sum of a party’s activity, particularly a revolutionary party.

A fighting party’s role requires timely engagement in strikes or protests against evictions, police violence, racist, sexist and homophobic attacks etc. It has to constantly link these issues to the crisis of the system and advocate for its replacement. Building class unity, consciously developing socialist consciousness, the supreme importance of maintaining an independent financial structure, (without which political independence is a joke) are all vital aspects of its role. It is here that the fight for the short-and-long term interests of the working class is realized. This naturally requires a system of organization (clubs) and methods for making its views known and developing them (press/Internet, schools).

A working-class party therefore needs complete financial, organizational and political independence.

But what, it might be asked, of the newly independent groups in the Democratic Party? Are their experiences not suggestive? Do they not have freedom of movement and fundraising? And more importantly are they not contesting within the Democratic Party over its direction and program, with labor going toe-to-toe with capital? Is it not possible that trade unions and allied partners could win such a contest and turn it into an instrument of radical reform and change?

These are important questions and the answers are uncertain, depending largely on circumstances that cannot be foreseen. One does not have a crystal ball and even an unlikely outcome such as capturing the Democratic Party cannot be completely ruled out.

While the Party’s tactical adjustment now requires more work alongside the Democratic Party, this cannot and should not preclude where possible other local alternatives...

US AFL-CIO Leader Accepts Communist Party Award: ‘I Stand With Them’

People's WorldAmistad awardees John Olsen, president of Connecticut's AFL CIO Union, Carmen Boudier, president of New England 1199 Union, and Juan Figueroa, president of Universal Health Care Foundation Union reflected on their years of commitment and called for stepped up unity and struggle in the tough times ahead for working people.

The program opened with a welcome from student members of the Young Communist League who explained that they became involved because they want to make the world more fair and equal.

In her welcome, Joelle Fishman, chair of the Connecticut Communist Party USA, called "holding extension of unemployment benefits for two million people hostage so a handful of billionaires can get even more tax breaks" an indictment of the Republicans and "an indictment of the capitalist system that is based on insatiable greed."

Anyone who stands with me for workers’ rights, I stand with them,” said John Olsen to loud applause as he acknowledged the Communist Party and took a strong stand against fear mongering and baiting, including the anti-socialist baiting of President Barack Obama.

The Communist Party USA leaders are openly discussing their successful infiltration and control of the Democrat Party, labor unions and their success in getting Obama elected, how exactly is this propaganda?

These types of people have been infiltrating the parties for years, both parties and any others that look like they have a chance of getting elected. I have watched a few of them in my local TP group come out of nowhere once we started fielding candidates that were elected. We have started with the school boards which control taxes in every school district here in Pa and county commissioners and will move on from there, got to start small.

Those who feel that earmarks have helped to bankrupt our nation?
Those who are against piling on more debt and further emburdening the taxpayers, their children and grandchildren?

We need to get rid of the ones who either have forgotten or chose to ignore that they are elected employees and as such are subject to firing. Too many think they are now elected royalty when they are not.

During the Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) tenure as speaker, which commenced on Jan. 4, 2007, the federal government has run up $5.177 trillion in new debt. That is about equal to the total debt the federal government accumulated in the first 220 years of the nation's existence.

The federal government has accumulated more new debt--$3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29)—during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury.

It took from 1776, when the United States became an independent country, until 1990, the year after the Berlin Wall fell signaling victory in the Cold War, for the federal government to accumulate a total of $3 trillion in debt, according to the Treasury Department.

It only took from Jan. 20, 2009, the day President Barack Obama was inaugurated, until Oct. 15, 2010, for the Obama administration to add $3 trillion to the federal debt.

The overall debt of the federal government, according to the Treasury Department, is now $13.666 trillion. ( $13,666,000,000,000 )

According to The National Bureau of Economic Research, the Great Recession began in December 2007, lasted 18 months, and ended in June 2009. The last recession that lasted this long began in July 1981, lasted 16 months, and ended in November 1982.

No two recessions are the same. And no two recoveries are going to be exactly the same either … especially when the presidents that preside over them have diametrically opposed philosophies about what government can or should do.

But as Ronald Reagan once said: “Shouldn’t we expect government to read the score to us once in a while?”

As the chart above shows, the stark reality is that the economic recovery under President Barack Obama has been much weaker than the recovery under President Ronald Reagan. At this stage of the Reagan recovery, unemployment had fallen more than three full points, from 10.8% to 7.7%. By contrast, under the Obama recovery unemployment has actually risen almost a half a percent from 9.4% to 9.8%.

So why was the Reagan Recovery so strong and why is the Obama Recovery so weak?
