So, who is planning on going?

I feel obligated to answer this quetion honestly, so there is no disappointment....

if attica was four hours away, and tellico was eight, Id take on the tellico trip more often .....not that tellico is the end-all-be-all, but it is bigger, and has longer trails since that is what most people are used to...."trail riding"....

atticas longest trail by "yardage" takes a couple hours in a small group....if we did it in a timed event, I'm sure orange trail could be run in 15 minutes or so...I surely don't want to wreck anyones buzz, but I want to describe the park accruately, especially for anyone traveling a long distance.....the place is small. It is no tellico, and it is certainly no paragon.

however, we have a crazy time there! We have a blast on "trail" no matter how short they are, there is lots to discover.....We've been going down there for years, and it never disappoints! Consider it more an "obstacle park" especially wehn we end up int he quarry...It is condusive to both an organized "trail ride" as it is a "do your own thing".....

by acreage it is on the small side, but none the less, everyone will have a good time.....

I just want everyone to know what kind of place it is so they get the right picture....

I agree with BJ, I make the trip every year and it's 6 hours for me. I wouldn't miss it, it's a good time to be had by all, I even bring my kids sometimes and they love it.

Never been to Tellico, but I love Paragon.
Attica is 3-4 hours from me in Milwaukee, depending on Chi-traffic, and its worth it to me.
Especially Winterfest.
I agree with all who said that Attica has packed as much as you can possibly do into 1300 or so acres.
If you are a snowboarder, Attica is more like a park with a pipe or two than an all mountain freeride.
Good times, good times.
I will be there with the wife in tow, staying at the Attica Inn, and making Blind Russians.
Looking forward to meeting/seeing you all.
:D

I'll be there. I will not be hoteling it this year. I will have the bus and will likely park it next to where ever Fourwheeler parks his.

I should be there Fri. around noon. Will be staying until Sun. around noon. Staying at the campground outside the park. See ya there.

We are so freakin cool Bob. Can't wait.

BTW, we'll be parked at the campground at the front of the park, I don't have reservations yet but I really don't think there will be any problems getting a spot.

If you guys are gonna be at the campground, I guess I'll bring the Winnebago. A nice fringe benefit of staying there is that the owner is the Badlands gatekeeper, so campers get in first. Maybe we can jeep-pool down to the bar or other party spots? I can handle either designated driver or designated drunk.

Mine will lose! Dan's has an After Cooler mine doesn't. Plus, he is missing 1/2 the rear of his bus, mine is all there still.

Dan,

Do you have any suggestions for heat??? I know what you are using and it's not a bad idea, but I am having a tough time thinking of where to mount an LP tank. I may put the tank inside for this trip. When the weather warms up I would have time to come up with a place to mount the tanks but for now it's too damn cold and I have no time. How bad of an Idea would it be to have the tank inside with the heater? I'd love to do a Diesel heater. I guess they are common on sail boats and they can be used as a stove too. They are too pricey for now and I wouldn't have time to install it right now. Maybe that could be my long term solution. Any other suggestions???

Bob, I don't like mine, it puts out too much heat and the thing gets to 200* when you stand up and it's still 24* at your feet. I'm going to look for an RV forced air furnace, there's an RV salvage yard on the MI/IN border right off US 131, I think it's called Bontragers, I could be wrong on the name tho, but that's where I'm going to look, a friend of mine bought a new furnace for $300. I've found that you really need the heat/air moving around to make it effective. The advantage you have is that you have twice the space so a furnace/heater like mine might work better for you than me. I'm going to use it at winterfest and bring a fan to plug into their 110 to make it more comfortable, plus I'm planning on using some elect. heaters as well, that may heat me just fine by it's self.

As far as the tank inside, I used a 20 lb tank inside with some 'buddy heaters' for the first winter and that worked fine, you may want to just curtain off the non sleeping area and use something small for heat till you get zactly what you want. I'm taking full advantage of the elect on this weekend.

I'll race you up rock face with the busses if you want LOL.

Why don't you just put in a ceiling fan? They are pretty cheap and seems like it would be easier than doing an entire furnace and ventilation system.

yea, lets set the scene:

drink a bunch of beers, drag my drunk arse back to the bus, chop the top third of my head off via ceiling fan cuz I forgot it was there.

furnace is still a better option.

Why? Were you using that part of your head for something?
