I was thinking about that, but I just got a line on a 4wd ax15 w/bellhousing.

you guys have to be fast on killer deals, you have to want it, the good good deals sell in hours, OK deals in days, and shitty deals sit for weeks - Odds are, if you still seeing a CL ad, its probably a bad deal since no one jumped on it ASAP. I got lucky on this one for sure, the guy who sold it was just trying to get rid of a ton of stuff in his yard and was stoked to pass it on to someone who was actually into the Comanche as more than just a cheap rust bucket.

I picked up an ax15 from a '90 xj now ISO a np231, ... I think I need a 23spline not the older 21?

a 1990 is renix, you might want to count output splines.

4 wheel drive ax15? otherwise you can't just put a transfer case on without swapping to a 4wd output shaft

and ya if it's truly a 90 ax15 with internal slave then it's 21 spline

Yup I was told its a 4wd renix '90 I'll double check spline count next week but either way it's ok because my blue '88 has that French Tranny. Nobody wants a French Tranny.

1990 was a changeover year for XJ, 1989 for MJ. IIRC, ALL AX-15 are 23-spline.

Sadly it's just sitting for now, got a trip to Honduras coming up then the Reno run so I'm focusing on the XJ. But I drove it out of the garage last week together make room. As long as the starter turns it runs.... I'm planning to start pulling stuff off after reno.
