should my girlfriend buy a liberty?

Hey, sorry... just wanted to share my experience with that truck. I've never owned as big a piece of crap as that KJ - and I know I'm not the only one out there. Perhaps it was a lemon, who knows, but the point is that it's possible to get hold of one like that, more so than many cars in that class. As for the snow - incredible is hardly the word I would use to describe the handling and traction... more like bearable.

That price seem a little high to me. There is a champane 2003 Limited with 46k miles, and they want $11,750 at a local dealership here. It even has the light bar.

If they throw salt on the roads where you live I'd stay away from anything Jeep. Is the vehicle going to be used offroad? If not it doesn't have to be a Jeep. What are the priorities? Gas mileage? Price? Interior space? Power? 4 X 4 vs 2X4? Comfort? Many women have different priorities than men when it comes to their automobiles.

she needs the 4x4 for sure to go over the blue mountain range on I-84 at least a few times a winter and if anyone knows that area it becomes real hairy.

so im getting mixed reviews and definitly dont like the ball joint issue im hearing about. but it does sound like jeep dealership can do it for free im taking it.

so hears my next question.... what do y'all recommand for a small 4x4 suv in that price range or a bit lower.

A Cherokee.
A Grand Cherokee.

I haven't priced them, but the Nissan Xterra is a good choice for a reliable driver, and you can turn them into a decent wheeler if you so desire. I wouldn't go any older than an 02 if you choose the Nissan. A redesign was done in 05, and it was the first year for the 265hp 4.0ltr, but those might be a little out of you price range.
