short easy trail rides to do when board

There are alot of trails in the area. Look around, Sierra chapter Runs and there are a few posts for some stuff going on in the near future.:eyes:

I say just go to the National Forest out there in the Sierras. Plenty of fire roads and other little trails to explore. Most of the roads can be done with any 4x4 mid size SUV so a XJ is perfect with a nice set of tires. From all the places Ive gone you shouldn't really have any issues, the biggest problem would be traction and steep hills. Just be careful and use judgment. If in doubt check it out on foot first and then drive up the trail more. You can't always rely on trail signs because a lot of times the trail is unmarked or the sign is missing. Typically if the trail is some what challenging for a stock SUV it will be marked with a little Jeep symbol or have a warning for "high clearance vehicles only". Just bring the proper gear and I always carry stuff in case I need to hike out or stay the night.

post on here if you know about some cool little trails to go down. fairly close to sac

I don't know your rig setup or trail history, but my kid and I have always enjoyed the Historic Gold Mining tours out of Grass Valley sponsored by the Hi-Landers and other local clubs. Check the Sac Bee or www.cal4wheel.com for info.

You can also spend 5 bucks and do Prairie City OHV in Folsom. That is supposed to re-open fully in Oct. Google their address. Eagle Lakes trail and Signal Peak are an hour away up Hwy 80. I would encourage you to join Cal4Wheel or other local club and help preserve our sport. Above all, stay on designated areas, obey rules, and tred lightly. Welcome to NAXJA.
