Is it necessary to change out my shiftgate if i'm going from a 242 to 231? Or is it only a concern for swapping a 231 to 242.

the 242 has an extra shift get on it.........it is easy to swap out the shifter gate plate and benzel

On my 89 it was a straight swap from a 242 to a 231.

I went from 242 to a 241OR and only swapped the bezel.
