Converting 89 drivetrain to 91.

I have 2 XJs. Where I'm from decent condition 91-95s are averaging 7k list price. I'm not happy with the Renix because of part availability and lacking aftermarket options. So, I want to do the switch not for power gains but for ease of working on it gains.

I have the donor jeep, running and driving. Only differences are my 89 has a np231 that I want to keep and the 91 has a 242. The 91 was also a police jeep so is a column shifted automatic.

I don't plan on keeping cruise control or AC for what it is worth.

To do this type of a swap, pull the entire block, head, and intake from the 91 and drop it in the 89, how far into the wiring harness will I also have to go? It also seems to me that I will be swapping the throttle and kick down cables of course. I have already converted my 89 to an open cooling system.

Everything I have read is focused on maintaining the Renix intake. I understand the headache but those are the parts I want to abandon. I hate the Renix fuel rail quick disconnects for example but the only after market rails that will use an lines are 91+. Since I have the donor vehicle I want to investigate doing the full swap.

Anyone here have experience?
