Selling my 1988 fox hatch. Cheap.

Selling a car that is VERY near and dear to me. I have owned this car for about 5 years now , as the last owner sold it to me before he left for the marines. Anyways I have no room for this car at my residence after it comes out of storage in mid april. Darn jeep :mad:

Car is decently clean with 5 yr old paint and a 60k 302 ho out of a donor mustang. There is a quarter sized spot of rust I unfortunately found on the floorpan while overhauling the interior to all black, but the shock towers and everything else is clean. The stock AOD with 3200 stall converter work well with minimal slipping.

I guess the list method will take over here:

Full exhaust from header to tip
all black interior / p/w p/l
corbeau forza seats with new certified harnesses
3:73 gearing
top end bolt ons" edlebrock upper/lower intake,cai, msd etc

4 in cowl has seen its better days. Hood few off (no damage to cowl) chipped the front fiberglass.

No back seat as car came with porno red interior

Has a full spray bar of nitrous that was never dialed in so it was never used. All the solenoids are cleaned and ready to be but to use this season.


Car was driven all last summer and fall as my DD and is super dependable. It breaks my heart to sell, but it has to go as I have no other choice. Would make for a perfect platform to have a nice car. Would rather sell it to a member of a forum before I place it at the barrington/ lake zurich high schools and have a teen pick it up.:cry:

Car is in storage until april 17th and can stay there until may 5th. I will show it whenever I get her home.


Looking for $ 2,500 for it so I can add it on to my savings to score a house this summer.

But yes... Come take a look whenever. I need her gone come april 15th :( VERY fun bolt on car to drive. Has gone to cali and back before with ZERO issues.
 
Air conditioning?

She wants a mustang...she's not picky, just wants one and wants it to be loud. I like this era of mustang. We are trying to sell her car (still paying down upside down) but an inexpensive buy in might kill two birds with one stone...

The exterior looks great, any more pics of the interior, or maybe better pics?

Car does not have air. The compressor was shot, so I crimped the line and simply "weight reduced " the car lol. I will take tons of pics once I get the car out of storage, but the interior is super duper clean.

Loud it is... car puts down around 330hp N/A
 
Are there provisions to have a/c added if so desired? Say getting parts from the pick and pull and having the system set up to take 134a?

I'll talk to her about it...and the a/c.

How far from Fort Wayne are you? If some things go the way I'd like them to go this week, I could be really serious about this.

What's the miles on the car and transmission?

The a/c could be added back with a pick and pull a/c compressor and a retro-fit r134 kit. If I had to take a super educated guess I would say the engine has 68k-ish miles on it, the body right around 100k and the trans... now thats tough to guess because I bought it from a member on my mustang site that had like 7 mustang,cougar, ltd transmissions. The ford AOD go for $150 all day on cl and other sites. The torque converter on this car is worth more than the average AOD and coupled with the B&M shift kit, it perks up.

For a nice looking DD with obvious racing look and feel this is the car. The second you see a car with a 4 in cowl and two high end racing seats with full blown harnesses, you know the car is not intended for a 30 mile each way trip to work. This is a car designed to be daily driven and run 12's at your local drag strip, all on pump gas.
 
She drives about 14 miles round trip to work...maybe a tad less. We run most errands in my work car.

It would need a/c I think.

I'm at work, she's home in bed, I sent her the link to the pics and she'll see them in the morning.

Besides being a dd, and something to take to the strip (which I am not foreseeing) it would be nice it if was reliable to drive an hour away to my grandparents house.

Laugh if you want, but any clue on fuel economy city/hwy?

better than my xj lol. I would have to guess right around 18/22 ish. Its a 2,800 lb car with a 4 spd OD in it with 3:73's so ya that would be my guess.

I drove this car back and forth from Lake Zurich to U of I which is in Champaign (165 mi easy) with out a hiccup. IT HAS A REALLY nice head unit and nice not over the top speakers.

Car will be out of storage most likely next weds so I will take tons of pics and some walk through videos
 
I could get a back seat from the pick and pull for it right?

I have challenged her on having a car like this with kids and she said she would deal with it...

I was/still am sober.

She is all aboard, she told me that I have to take my local mustang guru with me to look at it before a decision is made.

So if this works out, to the op, after April 15th its out of storage correct?
Looks to be about 4 hours away.

What vehicle (year/make) did the current motor come out of. The valve covers don't look like stock mustang valve covers? Maybe a Tbird or a truck? Is the motor an H.O. motor? Also, were are the 330 hp numbers coming from? With the listed mods my mustang guy is having trouble adding it up to 330 hp. Stock heads? Can you help us with that? Not trying to be a jerk either, just curious, cause I'm definitely interested.

You said minimal slipping on the trans. Can you explain that futher?

Is the heater hooked up? In one of the pics it looks like they aren't hooked up.

ok i`ll try to answer in order lol. Motor is a 1990 5.0 ho out of a lx. Valve covers are ford oem. It is an H.O. 330hp is a guess coming from my knowledge of these cars. It has a comp cam, 1.7 rr, highly ported e7`s , new upper and lower intake ect... its a FULL stock bottom end FULL bolt on car.

Trans takes its time to shift when she is hot lapped. The trans cooler helped but if not raced, it drives perfect. Also if the car is going to be sprayed, it absolutely will need a fresh trans, but from the sound of it, you will be using it as a weekend toy dd.

Rust spot on the drivers side floor pan. its been grinded, and por-15'ed. Almost positive those are stock fox valve covers, unless they are slightly taller for the 1.7 rockers. Heater blows hot and is 100% functional.

2 sets of wheels, one set with 80% the other with near 100% all 245/40/16
