sams 95 xj thread

so just so you all know this well be a slow build thread. there will not be new updates every day so dont get mad. there will be pics of ewvery thing i can get pics of. thanks for reading.

ok so i bought this 95 xj for 500 bux. it had 113k miles on it.
floors are rusted straight threw. pass. floor dose not even exists.
the plan is to pop rivet some sheet metal in there. i am very new to the doing it yourself style so any and all advice, comments, and criticism is very welcome here.

so i have not done too much yet. i change the oil and filter, did a tune up. there was NO fuel filter on there so got one of those bad boys running. then a few fuel lines were crappy so i got those replaced that was all last week.
today i noticed a strong sent of fuel. i found that the fuel tank is leaking right around the 1/4 mark. so i got a new fuel tank coming tomorrow.

with the 3 day weekend ahead of me i am planing on attacking the floors and getting some sheet metal down before my girl falls out the bottom.we will have to see how that turns out.

If your jeep runs and drives then it it is ready for the Badlands. you will have fun no matter what

i have no toe hooks =/ i dont want to spend 75 on front toe hooks if im gonna get a arb bull bar early winter
ive got a hitch rear soo thats covered but ya
i just dont want to go unless i have the basics coverd ya know

i have been there yes but not in the jeep. i have wheeled my durango there and i dont believe you need tow hook there. i know i dont have anything in the front of the durango and i belive when rewster went he was bone stock so if you wanted to go im sure you will do fine. if you look around i think there is a bunch of guys from here going this labor day weekend. i personlally am not i will be working on the floors in the jeep.

If you wheel with us.....you need tow hooks, and a fire extingisher.

If it is an official run, you will need a bunch of stuff.

The two things I mentioned are just to run with us for fun.

It is a really good idea to wait to wheel it until you at least get hook, XJ's are a bithc to recover without them.

well the weekend was somewhat of a failure. i started off by spending most of sat. trying to get one of the rusted and striped seat bolts out:wow:. after going threw every method i could think of, i headed down the street to a shop and paid a guy 10 bux to take his air hammer to it. while he was doing that i noticed the same bolt on the driver side was just like that so he knocked that one off to for a total of 20 bux.then i get home take our the pass. seat and rear seat then center counsule and start pulling up the carpet. then i started on the drver seat and it had ANOTHER seat bolt rust in. im dumb for not haveing him chizzle that one off to. now they are closed.

anyway i got door skins form work that i am about to putin the pass side. well of course they are to big and need to be cut. i buy a metal cutting saw for my sawzaw. put that to the skin and it just starts bounceing around makeing NO cuts.:flamemad:

so after trying that for awhile i decide that anymore of this nosense and i am deff going to lose a finger. so i quit. got drunk lil later and decide i will bring it to work where some guys that do this for a living maybe able to help me.

i did however snap a few pics of how bad the rust really is.(and its bad) so when i get home tonight i will get those up here.

Now would be a good time to invest in an air compressor, an impact, and air ratchet, and an air hammer.

Get the air tools from Harbor Freight (I've actually had REALLY REALLY good luck with their "Earthquake" impact...... It even survived a house fire!) but get the compressor from Sears, Lowes, or somewhere with a decent name on it. If you care about noise, get the oiled compressor.
