Rubicon Trip this Summer

you are more likely to break a shaft on 35"s than a jeep on 31"s...

I have chromos with CTMs up front, fully assembled chromo spares with 760s in the box, and full spares for the rear.
i know that, but i'm not going to have to try too hard to clear something someone on 31's can clear. i guess if i try the harder lines i could get myself in trouble...

Regarding the dog, I will be walking all the difficult parts. My buddy will be driving my rig most of the way. If your dogs get along well enough with Jazzy, I could keep an eye on them when they are out of the Jeep.

How many dogs you got?

I tend to keep Jazzy off leash unless there are a lot of people we don't know around. The only wildlife I remember her chasing was the bear out of our campground.

Regarding the spare front shafts, can you use 30-spline Rubi inners or are yours differnt lengths? I have a set that I will be probably be carrying, assuming I can get them to work?

Maybe we can share a set of spares?

i think i'm going to leave the dogs here, i took them to LW and it was just a hassle. i dont want to deal with it for a whole week, i dont think they'll like it, and it's a TON more water i have to bring.

as for the shafts, my axle is wider than yours so unfortunately it wont work :(
mine's jk width, so like 4 inches wider.

Thought about going to full floaters with a kit from Moser (I think) tttooo much. Just went ahead & ordered my new 9" alloys for the rear from Currie & took driveshafts down to get what needs to be done, done. Rear Cut down & take the factory one as spare, Front resplined on splined end. Need to lower front springs and get leaf spring shackle relocaters. Need to figure out how to get a sleeping bed in the cab with storage and parts box in the back???? :explosion  Cool with a meet if it can be in North County or Temecula.

sounds like we need a Stone meet and greet sometime next week.

I'm game as long as it can be later in the evening. I will be working heavily in order to afford the time off.

Picked up D shafts put front in tried to fish out the broken spline shaft on rear 9", no luck fell in. I pulled 3rd member & liked how everything looked and felt. The wear looks right on after 20 years and 1200 to 1500 miles on the 3rd member. Currie said 2 weeks tops on alloy rears, we'll see!

I hope to hike a little deeper into Desolation Wilderness this year...

I'm up for that. I remember spending alot of time finding that water tunnel last year. Any particular destination in mind?

Who can meet at Stone this Wed, say 6pm, to discuss trip logistics, who's caravaning with who, possible pot luck dinner, etc.?

i'm switching my status to maybe. something's going on with my heep, my trans tunnel and firewall get so damn hot that it made my phone power down by just sitting in the tray under the ebrake handle. this happens on the highway, makes driving less than enjoyable. not sure what the deal is but it did it all the way to big bear and back. temp gauge doesnt work so no clue what that's doing either. power aint so great on the highway as well. i'm almost wondering if my cat is clogged.

Dan, the way you work, I'm sure you'll fix it in time :)
