Rubicon in July?

With an upcoming visit from my sister this summer, my vacation schedule went all to hell :( In any case, from the looks of it, I will not be able to make the planned Rubi event... but I still would like to do it this year.

Anyways, is anyone planning to run Rubi in July (potentially late June would be fine as well)? with the actual trail running being Fri Sat or Thur Fri Sat? I'm open to almost any weekend that would be practical (as in a non-event weekend :D).

you may want to avoid:
52nd Annual Jeepers Jamboree
- 4 day trip, july 22-25.
Also another trip
-3 day trip, july 30- august 1st
the JJ folks get a lock on the trail for these dates, so no gate crashers = exclusive use of trail.

That is incorrect, I have run the trail many weekends that JJ is up there.

There is no gate on the 'Con, and hence, no way to keep you out.

Hell I even drank beer with some old friends at Rubicon Springs when they were on the JJ and i was just passing through.

Yeah I was wondering how they would keep people out, this was information that was passed on to me. Sorry to pass on bad info.

But the dates are correct, and you may want to avoid all the people.
More info on the JeepersJamboree web page

So it is "closed" but . . . I guess there are ways to get around.

Dal Albrite says
"The time the 'con is usually closed is for the Jeepers Jamboree.
The last week of July and the first week of August.
The trail is closed from July 21 thru Aug. 4, I usually avoid these two weeks."

and the Jeepers Jamboree site says
"The Jeepers Jamboree has exclusive use of the Rubicon Trail for its events. Be sure to check your calendar. The trail is closed to non-participants from July 21 through August 4. "

also the FOTR said if ur not a registered (= paying) guest for that weekend the ECSO will issue citations.

I am also hearing there is going to be a check point at ellis creek.

You can go but IMO it does not sound worth it.

So it sound that if I was to go 24 through 26th of June, I should be fine. Anyone else interested? I'll be taking along my 14 year old nephew as I promised I will take him on a trail while he's here.
