My next oil change on my 1996 jeep cherokee is due at 161,000 miles. Would it be a good idea to use Rotella T synthetic oil?

I live in south florida, so should I get the 5w40 or 15w40?

Thank you,

Alexi

Generally Rotella is used in diesel but I don't see why you couldn't use it I have used it in gas engines. I would think it would be formulated to be a "heavy duty/tougher" oil. It says for all gasoline engine on the bottle. I would think 15w-40 being in Florida, IDK???

most people will say they use the diesel oil for the higher ZDDP and phosphorous content. i used to run the 15w-40 in my old jeep that was really oil thirsty, im running the 5w-40 T6 in my new jeep. with that many miles idk how leaky your motor is, but a synthetic 5-40 would have fallen right out of the seals in my old motor.

I don't use it in my Jeep(been using Brad Penn 10w30 racing since day 1 of the stroker), but I use 2 gallons of T6 5w40 for every oil change in my 95 M3.

My 96 has had a long and happy life on the 15w-40 Rotella T.In winter a 10w-30 version, but as long as temps are above freezing the 15-40.

Engine will have run over 350,000 miles today
