Ross's Jeep that will take longer than Rob's to build thread...

He plans to pretend stock cherokee seats are racing seats.

thats where I envy you 4 door guys. when I build a seat belt bar I make my rear seat useless. but you junk looks good.

oh and your missing one bar on the roof.

I dont have a rear seat so it doesnt matter anyways. Im not a fan of back seats.

Lookin good there Ross. How do you like the bender?

Works good, bends tube. I still haven't made support legs and wheels for it. Having a big compressor really helps, I can do a continous bend and not have to worry about the air keeping up.

Sorry if I missed it in an older post, but what are your plans for new seats to go with the harness?

What Carmelo said, I'm running stock 95/96 manual 2dr seats with some simple 4pts that my dad had laying around.

For some reason that middle crossbar on the roof bothers me. Probably because it's sitting higher than the others.

Looks good though.

It is high on the ends and doesnt tuck in the same as the rest. Its doesnt look so bad in person and I wasn't about to redo everything to change it. The harness bar is actually the first attempt at the middle crossbar that didnt come out right. I got to the point where I just said f*ck it and kept working on the rest of the halo.

Do you have any pics of how you attached your rear shock hoops to the floor?

But if i take out my rear seat your GF will have to wait in the woods by herself for hours while we go out to the parking lot to get your spare tire.

I just noticed how you mounted your harness to the bar.

The tabs are not parallel to the direction of the force.

I wouldn't mount them like that. Get a weld on tab from Ruffstuff or someone and weld them on at the right angle.

It's perfect english. It's just a step when installing that shouldn't be overlooked. Bottom left of this image.

thank you for the english translation via picture :)

Ill be looking forward to getting a lecture from colin at fc on how my harnesses mount

I noticed one thing that I was always told was not a good idea... It looks like the bars that come down from the roof halo (effectivly making up a "main" hoop, protecting the driver/pass) have a bend in them. I understand the reason for the bend, but this is a weak spot where those tubes could bend if (when...LOL) you flop it. I would tie a tube just above where that bend is and triangulate it towards the rear. SInce your not that worreid about rear seat access, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I think I know what you're saying Andy.

I would guess that Ross is going to add an X behind the front seats that ties into the harness bar and b pillars which should address that.

The seat belt mounts were just mocked up real quick to get an idea of what hieght I wanted the harness bar at. I plan on reinforceing them and making them have the correct pull.

I take that back, I actually agree with Andy.

If you're not using your rear seat, why not keep the b-pillar straight?

I know straight b-pillars are better but it just didn't work out in my setup. The bottoms bend forward so that they land on one of the 2x2 support legs for the rocker. I was thinking about doing a spreader between two legs to get a more vertical pillar, but with how the rear most rocker leg is built I couldnt get a spreader to fit nicely. The "main" hoop will have a X to support it and also have bars running backwards and tieing into the shock hoops/rear pillars.

Can't see what type of belts those are but if they are not sewn to the tabs you could also remove the tabs and loop them over the bar.

Funny thing, Chrysler had a big set up here in Michigan for an auto thing and they had their Mopar Monster truck there. I was looking it over and saw they had their shoulder harness mounts mounted in bending like that..:banghead:

Welding tube and stuff. The light gray primer has grown on me, I think I'm gunna paint all the tubework with some silver metallic speck I have laying around. The tube is mostly all welded together, gunna finish welding the cage to the frame and tie into the rain gutters and pillars. Still gotta do the 'X' bracing on the harness bar and do the rear tube/sheetmetal work. Gunna build up a custom MJ tailgate and tube to finish off the rear quarters and wheelwells, drop a couple of supports to the bumper to protect the rear corners/tail lights.
