Here's a couple more from NACfest, playing on the comp course and the notch at Crawler's Ridge where I blew the hydro line.
too much air in the tires
I ran them at like 12-14 psi because I had no beadlocks and 9" wide rims. Still managed to slip one bead, banged up that rim pretty good. Tore up another rim when I wedged the PS front at Crawler's Ridge and dented another one at some point. Only 1 outta the 4 rims didn't need straightening. The Treps stuck like glue though, they kicked ass on the rocks of Rausch Creek. Did the Trail 5 Hill Climb rock face without even a single chirp.
Now that I got back, the correct size rock rings were waiting for me. I added in the half moons on the outside so water wouldn't collect in the rim and so I could access the tire valve stem. After I welded them up, I mounted up the Inner AirLocks. Mounted all of it by hand by myself with one big pry bar, what a joy that was. Now the tires are all around 7-8psi, seem to wrap around the tree stump I flexed on very nicely.
The raffle was kind to me again this year. Scored some Brown Dog super brackets that will go along nicely with the motor mounts I won last year from them. I also got a $100 gift certificate to MasterPull, unsure if I wanna go to rope just yet, the winch cable is still brand new and nice.
The jeep is going out again in a couple of weeks to a place that will surely smash the crap outta the body even more. For now, the DS inner fender area has been hammered roughly back into shape enough and the fender/header panel tossed. I need to get my ass going on build my tube bender. Gunna relocated the battery and dovenoise all that junk outta there, build some hoops to protect the radiator/support and tube out everything from the doors forward. Hopefully it'll still kinda look like a XJ front with a narrowed grill. Probably gunna choptop the back but still unsure what I wanna do back there.
