RockStar Fabrication buggy - RIP

Here's another. If the buggy is on my property and something happens does my home owners cover it?
Call your agent.
At this point I wouldn't make ANY assumptions.

I believe most Home Owners policies have a limit for unscheduled trailers.
usually like $1500.00. But, it must be damaged from a covered loss.
like wind knocking down a tree. Theft would not be covered.
rust won't be covered either : )

Ah yes, company owned vehicles used for personal use is a big no no when it comes to insurance coverage. When I was a school police officer in PA I busted a girl for a driving infraction on school property, she was driving one of her fathers company cars. She damaged the grass and so forth and her fathers company insurance wouldn't cover it, in fact they dropped his entire fleet of over 100 vehicles because of her stupidity. The new insurance company charged him nearly 5 times as much because of her stunt and the other company cancelling him....... that was a costly experiance for both him and his daughter.

As for trailer insurance, always get a rider to cover the trailer and the "load", and don't use a company vehicle to tow your toys! Now if it's a business such as a chassis shop and your towing for business your OK, but if it is to go play, better make sure your still covered!

Sorry to see what happened to you there Roxtar, that bites! Just glad you are OK and so was everyone else on the road that day, I see way too many bad scenes of these kinds of things crossing into oncoming traffic.
I have had two scares myself, one where a demo derby car I was towbarring passed me up going down a ramp onto a highway. Fortunately the demo car just went into the weeds :) Then last year I had a car trailer loose a wheel in Indy. The tire bounced over some dude walking on the sidewalk, cleared one car on a car lot then somehow hit the wheels on two cars in the lot and did no damage! I saw the tire bounce over the dude on the sidewalk, it would have killed him if it hit him.... WHEW!

Nothing to do with receipts.

As a company vehicle, we were told that whatever we towed would be covered, right?
However, as it turns out, that only applies to company business related stuff.
IOW, if I tow a cylinder out of US Steel and drop it on the highway, it's covered via our company liability policy.

Personal use stuff would have to be insured separately with there own policies.
If we do this to a snowmobile, the snowmobile policy handles it. Same for quad cycles, whatever.
Since the buggy didn't have it's own policy, I'm SOL.

Wait, it gets better.

Also, this trailer isn't owned (or insured, obviously) by us, it was borrowed. Well, insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver, so the trailer's insurance covers it.
Well, he didn't have coverage on it so I'm without paddle on that one also.

Well, insurance is not going to come through.
I got pissed and tore into it.
After pulling the body panels I found:

The Good:
-Front end was bruised and beaten but reasonably straight.
-Walker Evans airshock isn't blown; can be fixed for $50.

The Bad:
-Nice chunk taken out of the oil pan.
-Warn 8274 motor ripped off.
-Rear is total loss. Have to replace everything from the seats back.

Time to get to work.
