Robby's prerunner porn buildup

those can quickly become one and the same when it comes to jeep building bro haha. lookin good so far

You are so right. When you have been dating for 8 yrs and about to graduate from college her desire to take the next step in life is constant nag. And when you spend many hours working on the jeep and not spending time with her she tends to get cranky and you have to take her to dinner at sushi with a $72 bill to lighten the mood. haha that life right.

Any pics on how you have the front tube tied to the radiator? Nice jeep!:yelclap:

Yea i do. nothing special its just dyeing to get tied into a cage.

also took some more photos like the little detail i put into the front bumper, and a pic of the rear bumper.

lastly i wanted to get your guys input i was thinking in regard to tying the bump cans and tubes i have welded on top of the shock mounts together a pice of 1.75 dom tubing to add strength to the bump can to help keep it from wanting to bend toward the front in a hard bump impact. Then later when the engine cage comes in i will just tie both of them to the main tube.

When you build your rear shock mounts I suggest not mounting tubes to the top of the wheel wale. Me and my friend seen a jeep done this way and we both copied that design and we both regretted it and have sense removed those tubes from that location. The metal is paper thin and there is absolutely no structure there. I thought it looked cool when I didn't know any better but for some reason lots of people mount tubes there and or bolt plates and mount tubes there. I can't figure out why tho. Definitely tie any and every suspension-bumper-cage point together. Just my .02 Build looks really good!!!

Scroll down on this page, then check out both threads.

hey thanks i read both front to back. I got a better idea of the whole thing now. I know this is going to be a big challenge with keeping all my stock stuff like the fuse box, heater, ac, and dash. I do plan on running the tube through the dash i will tie the engine cage in higher than it was there.

For now i think i am going to do some plating on the inside of the coil bucket and run the tube between the two tubes for now.

Hey thanks for the advice. I never thought that was a very good design. I think i would build my bed cage first then bend the c pillar bars to tie into the tops of it some how. I danno just soaking up info for now.

If you wanted an idea for your engine cage here is mine - goes in through the firewall into the a/c vents and also mounts above the shock mounts to more tubing that ties into the sliders. Jeep looks sick by the way!

yea thanks that give me some ideas

Well guys i got some stuff done today, not much but every little bit counts.

I got the rest of the frame stiffeners welded up and I also had a lil more than an 1/8 gap between my rear deaver leaf springs and the frame mounts so i plated the leaf spring mount on the frame with 1/8 plate. Took up the gap and should help spread some weight from the inner bolt.

Another thing i did was since i put the bump cans in i had no radiator res. and i had been using a soda can for temp. So i had a rad. res. that i had laying around the garage off my yfz450 quad. So i started playing around on to where i should put it. This is what i came up with.

Also recently modded my exhaust. When i got it the exhaust dumped out right in front of the rear axle and it was going to interfere with the axle truss i wanted to build so i chopped it all up. I moved the cat forward a lil bit and butted the muffler to it then i put a nice chop on the tip then turned it to point toward the side right in front of the tires.

My next projects and maybe i will be able to concur them this coming weekend will be to fit a trans cooler and finish my rear axle truss. I would like to trans cooler either in front of my radiator or maybe behind by front bumpers skid plate. I was thinking of grabbing a trans cooler off a e-250 van because they seem to be a good size and already have barbed fittings.

Ok guys i have been doing some late night deep thinking out in the garage for future projects. I was just overlooking the car and interior cage framework. I think i want to build my rear bed cage before i build the rest of the cage then i would tie them together at the c pillar and at the last the mount on top of the shackle bucket. My idea for the bed cage tie ins is to:
-threw tube to the shackle bucket
-cut a hole in the bottom of the unibody frame where the bump stop pad plating would be, weld the tube to the inside of the plate before welding it to bottom of the frame rail. So when the plate is finally welded to the frame rail there would be a tube running through the inside of the frame rail and sticking up through the floor in the bed to be tied in
-another frame tie in right behind the rear seat either frame side tie in or through frame tie in
- And lastly to bring a tube underneath the rear seat to tie into the t&j frame stiffener tube that is directly attached to the front leaf spring bolt.

Pics below show how the tube would fit under the seat to attach to the bed cage and front spring bolt tube. Mind you that tube is just laying in there but the bend on it would be about right.

This pic shows a poor chalk layout of part of the bed cage and underneath the rear seat you can see the tubing sticking out to tie into the bed cage.

Last pic as i already posted in crazy jims thread (on a side note) is what i was thinking of doing for the bump stop setup in the rear. Basically i would plate the frame, have a piece of tube run from the frame plating to the bed cage tie in through the inside of the frame rail, off the bottom of the frame plating would be two tubes that would have the bump stop mounting plate welded to, then between the two tubes i would plate it on both sides then run a tube between the two plates as a joining tube.

Got some parts in for my broken locker. So todays project is to pull the rear end, replace the broken springs, and try and finish my truss.

well i got the rear axle done rebuilt the locker, trussed the axle and got back under the rig. Took me two days to get it all done but im pleased with how it came out.
