Well ... ugh ... ummm ... Tom Link mows about every grave yard in the county ... and he mows lots of private and business yards too. Makes his annual living just mowing grass ... grass is his lfe too ... and he uses a Dixie Chopper!

So there ...

Les

PS: What would you do with a lawn mower? ... Probably flop it the first day! :laugh2:

Tom Link m-o-w-s grass for living, I grow grass for a living. And I grow it as low .125" up to 2.5". How many hours does he put on a Dixie before maintenance costs start eating up his profits?

Go TORO or go mow some graveyards

Moneypit,

I have an offer for ya'. How about you hire the CC-Unit to maintain your lawn? We'll do it for $400,000 annually, not including capital expenditures.

Man ... you just take everything too serious ... lighten up! Thought you'd get the message ...

Two acres of actual mowing or less? Self propelled walk behind for sure. It's no wonder this country is getting so damn fat, cracks me up to see all the riding mowers in town on lots so small the hardly have room to turn around. TC

I agree ... I have mowed the past couple of years using a plain ole push mower. I still have an older Simplicity 18 HP with a 42" deck and hydrostatic drive ... used to spend about 6 hours on Saturdays mowing around here ... mowed the road sides and about 3 acres. Now, I'm letting most of my property go back to woods and wildflowers. It takes about an hour to mow what's left with the push mower ... saves gas and I get some exercise.

Funny how you spend the first half your life looking for easier ways to do things ... then you reach a point where you go back to the old way just to get some exercise. I'm even back to splitting wood by hand instead of using a splitter ... even had the Briar Scythe out a couple of times lately.

Good point TC ...

LOL so true.

That's why I got a Troy Bilt 8.5 hp 33" walk-behind. Big enough to cut some grass, but narrow & maneuverable enough to get through most gates & around plantings.

I put larger tires on it to boost the top speed in 4th gear.... cut lawns part-time for three years and used it the casa for 5 more. The motor finally wore out this season, but we had moved to a place with a huge lawn so we have been using a borrowed Craftsman rider (yes I'm cheap & lazy)

We're moving to another place with much less grass, so I'll either replace the motor on the TB or Roundup the grass and mulch & bed the whole yard. I HATE grass.

i bought a worn out craftsman for $100, patched a tire, fixed a battery cable, sharpened the blades and it mows my 3 acres just perfect :wave1:

$5500 :dunno: :looser: ,

some have more brains than money and some.....well you know

Have you considered cementing the 3 acres?

I've got a JD LX255 and love it!
