Reversing Anti-Lambo Doors

Well you might have guessed it, the door fell off, he took a turn too hard and it flew off. It hit some old lady and her dog almost killed her so he drove off before anyone could get his plate number.

Time to re-think what I am doing . . .

am I the only one that is currently asking self ---> WTF?

"Re-think"??? Doesn't that imply that there was thought involved in the first place.

I will say this - Letterman is the only person named Dave with semi-decent welding skills, located close enough to my house, that I will let weld my stuff in exchange for an 18-pack of beer that he lets me help drink. I can say without reservation that I somewhat recommend his welding ability for a near-free price.

Now THAT is a testimonial right there, folks.

"I don't know, but my gut screams maybe."

Mad Respect Yo!

Well after the door falling off it was time for some reinforcement, I took some 1.75 DOM 2.50 wall and started to make some doorframes for extra support. After a few hours of yelling at each other on how it should be done, I did it my way anyway.

Bending up the 1.75 DOM:

I think my scale may have been a little off, is the " symbol inches or feet?

I thought ahead and made two of them so I would save time for the passenger side too:

Once I had them both bent up, I thought it might be a good idea for a test fit:

For over 6 hours we pushed and tried to force it to fit:

Dose anyone know a good way to un-bend 1.75 DOM 2.50 wall tube?

Maybe I just need to make the doors bigger?

So after all the wasted hours we spent working on the doors, we ended up doing what I think most anyone on NAXJA would do at this point. I welded up the doors and we put a big 01 on the side of the rig. I think we all know how hot the girls get for any car with a big 01 on the side, and what a thrill they get from going in through the windows:

I want a writeup on how to get my hood to open all the way like that...

Way cool...

Roebrt

Thanks that is a "Letterman Original Signature Modification Mod", I might do a 6 or 9 page write up on that soon! Keep your eyes open for more of my sweet tech and prototype mods!

Looks like a good hinge fit. The upper driver's side hinge on my 95 was welded. Let me say I just started welding, never took a class, and I can lay a nicer bead using Harbor Freight wire on a 110v Craftsman flux core welder than what the previous owner layed out to fix that hinge.
