Returning to the fold

After several years of driving a car I've decided to jump back into Jeep ownership with both feet and have purchased the '96 XJ with the half doors that was for sale here on the board.

Currently living in central Texas, originally from California. (please don't hold it against me) I've decided that I can't stand the climate here anymore. Let me tell you, the skiing down here sucks. That and having a girlfriend who doesn't want to live anywhere other than CO. All kind of added up.

My former Jeep was a '90 MJ Pioneer SB, 4x4, 4.0, AX15 that I had 4.5" Rusty's on the front and a Spring Over on the back. Running 33" Mud Tires. Protofab front bumper and custom rock sliders.

I'll be moving in just under a month and look forward to getting out on to the trails again. To bad I'm going to miss the build on the Raffle XJ

Only real question I have so far is tire recomendations for Colorado. When I lived in Ohio I very much enjoyed the Interco TSL radials year round, and found them acceptible in the snow but it was rare there was all that much on the ground, either on or off road.

Tom,

Welcome back!

If I understand you correctly, you bought Jim's black and white '96? That's a great rig for the money. Real nice job on those half-doors and covers.

I look forward to seeing you around!

That would be me. I won't get to see it until mid May when I get to CO, but the buddies of mine who picked it up have some jeep experience.

Will certainly be looking for outtings and local knowledge.

CAN

NOT

WAIT

to be out of Texas.

Been here for a week now and other than being a little out of breath after runing up the stairs or being out on the bicycle I'm loving it. Have to finish up some stuff on the Jeep to get it registered, hopefully this week.

Need to find out where the JY is since I'm missing a few things, like a hood prop a front sway bar and a radio harness.
