Rest in Peace, My XJ

Did you try the coil? I read through the other threads didn't notice if you tried that. My 89 XJ did the same thing just died on me and tried everthing coil was last thing before the junk yard. My Mustang did the same thing it stopped on me in the middle of traffic in Denver during rush hour. I was little smarter this time since my XJ did it first. I have spare coil in garage for your year. Sometimes it is simple things.

Well, it looks like she isn't going to start ever again.

For those of you that have read my posts on the starting struggle, thank you for your help.

So what would you all do?

Get another one, or part it out and buy a Rubicon....

Let the flames begin....
drop in a new 4.0, found one in arizona for $400

Hi, devil's advocate here. Have you done a compression test?

I read the threads. Maybe you got the engine indexed to find the valves in time, maybe not, I can't really tell. I have spent hours in XJs with over 220K miles and good compression. Just why do you think this engine is toast?

I have a compression tester, PM sent.

I decided screw it, and bought a Rubicon...

I'm done trying to fix it. And you can't turn the crank with the starter or with a wrench....

Bummer! Sorry that didn't work out for you.

oh well, enjoy the rubicon!

I really loved my XJ... I can only hope that I'll have as many good times in the new jeep.

Hopefully I'll see you NAXJA guys on the trail...
