Hi - anyone got any recs for these? Rough Country and Yukon keep popping up in searches. I have the vac disconnect. It's a stock 1991 XJ 5 speed. Any recs or info appreciated.

Thanks! TJ

If you were to go 1-piece axles, swapping to a non-disco axle is just about as easy as cutting a passenger seal into the pumpkin!

Do a full axle shaft swap on both sides. Slightly better axle u joints, and more common than axle disconnect Dana 30.

Are there any other pros and cons to disconnect? Why did they ever put it there in the first place? It does seem like most ppl swap it out at some pt. Thx

It was a carry over because the early t-cases did not dis-connect the front axle in 2wd!

I don’t believe there are any aftermarket disconnect axle shafts. The story used to be that all XJ disconnect shafts and all YJ disconnect shafts up until 1994 had the small 260-size u-joints. 1995 YJs were supposed to have disconnect shafts with 297/760-size u-joints.

Some claim the disconnect is for fuel mileage as well - I bet it is not measurable though.

I have a set in SoCal you can have. Shipping or train?

Yeah, no issues. Just pulled them to put in forged shafts. I'd probably suggest changing u-joints before using, but nothing else wrong.

Too bad it wasn't a month ago, just did a trip all over norcal

Hey , I actually have some brand new U-joints laying around somewhere. Bummer I missed you in Norcal, dang...

Is there a way to message directly w/ya on here? Nvr done it. I'm actually super interested in these shafts if you really don't need them.
