Reno Wheeling trip

Yeah I am hoping Eric is going. If not we are SOL. I found some info on Bronco and will load it into my gps but everything else is a mystery up there.

I am glad someone will be there soon to record and write-up these trails. :greensmok

we can just meet at moonrocks between 10 and ?, play around on the rocks untill who ever else wants to go arrives then head out to the trails from there. I can navigate us to moonrocks.

Bronco Canyon and Schoolbus are far away from the others. Schoolbus really isn't worth your time IMO. Bronco is good but it takes a minimum half day to get in, run it, and back out. Longer if there are breakdowns as it is far away from pavement.

The other trails are relatively close to each other, with moonrocks in the middle. Here's my suggestion for a kick ass day.

1) Dolores
2) Billy Bobs or Twister (might be possible to do both)
3) possibly run another good trail in the area that is un-named/semi-secret
4) then head to Moonrocks and either pick up dinner on the way or have a BBQ there and play on the rocks.
5) if you are itching for more, do Steve's Loop as an evening or night run

There is another short trail in Reno called Budweiser. Its right in town though, not in the immediate vincinity of the others.

If you are really endevorous, you could then run Bronco Canyon on Saturday before heading home. Bronco would make a good finale to a good weekend if you have the time to not be rushed to get through it.

I think we will stick to Eric's plan and I believe he is the only other one going on Friday. If he wants to meet at Moonrocks then that is fine with me. I just want to nail down a place and time today so nobody is confused as to where to meet up.

Anyone wanting to make the night run on Friday needs to make sure we know you are going and get me your numbers so I can update you all where to meet.

Josh

not sure u want to do moon ocks on friday as we may end up there on sat,
unless we do an allday trail on sat? which is just fine by me as momma knows how those trails end up, eldoado is a great way to loose an entire day, but finish's in s. carson! bronco is an all day but not sure if the water is flowin!
eric knows of billy bob/twister, one of those would be great for saturday aswell, then to misery!
XJensen, not sure i can make it friday nite bud, as i dont plan on being home till very late sat!! :)
Eric save me a good trail for sat!!

So what trail are we running friday night?

Don't worry I will be there Friday morning to head out with you guys for the day. Whichever trails you want to run is fine, but the list I made is most convenient as far as location (doing them in order).

I should also be good for Saturday.

Joe, I'm thinking it might be better to start them off with BillyBobs on Friday and not do Dolores. So what do you think about doing Dolores at night?

I am good with Dolores or Billybob. We can meet at the 711. I just have to finsh my rock lights. I got my jeep back on all 4 tires just a bit ago.

Meeting at the 7-11 is good for the night run since it is centrally located to any of those trails. If you want to set a time (7:00pm ish?) that is fine and I'll keep you updated during the day on where we are and how things are going.

I think he is talking about a trail off of Tonka, It is a big rock in the trail. That is where i broke my left side front U joint just after the gatekeeper.

It needs a different name than Gatekeeper IMO. And no we didn't run that. I'm waiting for Alan to run that so I can watch. ;)

It is fun to watch big A run a trail...

sounds like we are set. threw the front chromos in tonight. now i just need to bleed the brakes, lost pedal feel for some reason after tightening the brake caliper housing mounting bolts...

So are you guys hitting moonrocks Friday then? The XJ is sidelined, but I havent had the buggy out in a while...

I dont mind hitting some of the easier trails, but moonrocks is obviously a bit more fun and less hassle for a trailered rig.

Looks like we will be there in the late afternoon or so, depending how the day goes. If Eric has your number then we can give you a ring when we head over.

What Joe said... gate keeper is to the left at the "y" before tonka. On reno4x4.com it was said no xj in this lifetime will make it through it.... last week me and rob ran through it no problems.... lol

Come out Travis! They should see Moonrocks, especially if they have never there before, so that's the plan.
