Unofficial NAXJA run, 5/19 - 5/21!

WARNING: I like to wheel ALL day and pack in as many trails as I can with a few stops along the way.

So the plan is to head up Thursday night, 5/19 and get a cheap room in Reno. Do some drinking and get into a little mischief. Wheel on Friday and return to the hotel / casino for more mischief. Get up Saturday and do it again returning home Saturday night, 5/21.

As far as trails I am thinking of running, not sure of the order or days I will run these.

Steve's Loop
Dolores
Twister
Billy Bob

For my other thread and comments from the Reno guys I would say requirements are as follows.

33" tires, full size spare
one locker or two limited slips
recovery points front and rear
and all the other usual required NAXJA stuff

Reno guys please chime in with info and suggestions. Also PM me if you have any questions. I know Friday may be hard for some so maybe we can run the hardest trails then if some guys are less built and want to come along Saturday. Or the other way around if built guys want to come out Saturday.

yeah i know, i'll do my best to get there. Took my junk out today a little with the dirt bike. It runs like shit, i think i'm just going to get the ladder half of the c101 wire harness as my fire damage is creating gremlins... need to see if the cheap autozone dizzy is flowing to the cam sensor properly. i hate when my garage time exceeds wheeling time... other buddies are trying to do something out at indian valley resevoir the week after, i'll try and get them to come on this instead.

misfiring? surging? wants to die ?
what are the symptoms?

ill try to get off work by like 4:30 that thurs and have the jeep packed weds night...

Josh,

I should be available on Friday to wheel. Possibly on Saturday as well.

You need to include Moonrocks in your schedule as well since it's in the general vincinity.

I will add Moonrocks on the list as well.

Any idea on the order we should run these trails and if it is even possible to run them all?

Hope to see you there, this should be a great trip!

what about bronco canyon and school bus?
lets try to hit them all....

Ok, so I have never been to this area and know very little about it. I have made a preliminary list of trails in the area from other peoples suggestions. Please add to the list and lets start to rank them, with the higher the ranking trails with more priority to try to run. These are not in any particular order, yet.

Preliminary List

Steve's Loop
Bronco Canyon
Moon Rocks
School Bus
Dolores
Twister
Billy Bob

im only going by what ive seent he reno gys talk about myself, ive never been either,

Bronco Canyon and Schoolbus are far away from the others. Schoolbus really isn't worth your time IMO. Bronco is good but it takes a minimum half day to get in, run it, and back out. Longer if there are breakdowns as it is far away from pavement.

The other trails are relatively close to each other, with moonrocks in the middle. Here's my suggestion for a kick ass day.

1) Dolores
2) Billy Bobs or Twister (might be possible to do both)
3) possibly run another good trail in the area that is un-named/semi-secret
4) then head to Moonrocks and either pick up dinner on the way or have a BBQ there and play on the rocks.
5) if you are itching for more, do Steve's Loop as an evening or night run

There is another short trail in Reno called Budweiser. Its right in town though, not in the immediate vincinity of the others.

If you are really endevorous, you could then run Bronco Canyon on Saturday before heading home. Bronco would make a good finale to a good weekend if you have the time to not be rushed to get through it.

I will make as many of these as possible! Billybob and twister are the same start and you'd have to make a big circle to run the other.... is just run billybob since it is the harder of the two. So Deloris, billybob, Moonrocks, and if ya feel like it steves loop...(i think steves is a waste of a drive for 10 mins of wheeling)... bronco on Saturday is a good idea! Start early and bring a lunch.
