Renix 4.0 idle

What is it supposed to be? I cant seem to fine a number. Mine idles at around 1000rpm, and im sure thats a little high.

1990 MJ, 4.0, ax-15, np231.

What should I look at to ge tthe idle down?

1000 is on the high side. 800-1000 is I believe what it should be at. 750 in gear.

750 with a stock alternator. Some aftermarket alternators require a little higher rpm.

600-700 is normal. A high idle is normally caused by a vacuum leak. Most common point is the hardline running by the battery and going to the canister mounted behind the bumper. Right by the battery it tends to fail.

Hmm. I just messed with those lines (pulled bumper to paint it) maybe I caused it.

check the hoses out and clean the idle stepper motor.
