i removed my driver door panel to fix a broken pin latch bolt.
i have to get inside the door behing the speaker.
well got to door panel off , unplugged all power'.
i couldn't get the lock rods off? there didn't seem to be anywhere that they unhooked?
and it keeps the panel pulled close enough to the door that you can't work on it without removing them.
any one done this and had it go easy!
thanks

The lock rods are held in place by the colored plastic part on the ends. That colored plastic part rotates around where the rod connects, and clamps onto the lock rod itself. Take a close look at it where it appears to clip on the rod. Pry the plastic end clamp off the rod and rotate it to clear. Once unhooked, you can then separate the rods....

ivan sez it. pull up on the open end of the clip and move it out of the way. then wiggle the panel till the rod slides right out DO NOT FORCE IT.

Just to add a couple of things, pry the door panels off one plastic nipple at a time, you can kind of feel where they hold in the door, when you pull. If you try to pull if off, as a unit and not one holder at a time, bad things can happen.
When you go through the plastic foil glued to the inside of the door, cut it at the opening on three sides and then use some duct tape to tape it back in place. The plastic will tear if you try to pull it away from the glue and you´ll have cold air blowing through the door.
I use a thin screw driver to move the clips and pop out the rod, kind of keep track of which rod is which, a little piece of tape can help. They are hard to sort out when the panel is on.
Putting it back together is harder than taking it apart, a good set of needle nose pliers and the thin screwdriver are nice to have handy.

If you do it just right, you can pass the inner door handle/ window switch assembly through the door panel with the rods still hooked up. There's a catch at the top of the door panel by the window, lift up there to release, then angle the whole panel and the handle assy will fit through.

Do it this way if at all possible, because rehooking those rods is a pain in the butt, and this way you can reattach the latch mechanism to the door with the panel off so you're sure it works right before you reassemble everything.
