As most of you already know, the MWC has adopted a trail at Redbird SRA which is located in Dugger, IN. We have adopted trail 21. It is my understanding that there has already been a sign erected at the trail head stating that the trail has been adopted by the MWC of NAXJA. Part of the agreement of the trail adoption is that the MWC do maintenance and clean up on the trail twice a year while the park is open. With it already being half way through the season for Redbird, they're asking that we only do this activity once this year. We are going to do this on the 15th of Nov. We'll start at 9am when the park opens. We'll do what ever needs to be done. Nothing major, trim some limbs, pick up trash, stuff like that. Everyone that participates will have to sign a waver. I think it's basically the same thing that you'd sign to enter the park anyway, just more lengthy. Not a big deal at all. Also, everyone that participates will get in the park for free that day. Once we're done with the clean up, we'll wheel till they run us off.:D

Feel free to post up with any questions!

Hope to see you there!

I'll be there.

As Hale said, all participants have to do is sign a waiver saying you are doing volunteer work for the park, any injuries are your responsibility, etc. In the past groups have worn orange vests, but I don't know how many are floating around anymore.

As far as the trail goes, whatever we want to do is allowed (pretty much) be it clearing brush, removing trees at the trail's edge or filling in washed out areas. Rock may be available for fill purposes, I'll try and reserve some for us. I'll also make it a goal it have my trailer done by then so we can get the rock where we need it. Tim was supposed to put some in the big mudhole at the beginning of the trail off of 0 that FlexdXJ had so much trouble with, so that should be taken care of. I will follow up with him and advise further later.

If you guys have any questions about the work day, please let me know and if I don't have the answer, I will get one for you.

Thanks!!

HA HA Byron! is there gonna be a way around that now? I may be able to make it out for that. I will just have to see whats going on around then! :D

I'd like to explore the possibility of bypasses for some of the tougher obstacles. I'd also like to see those bypasses marked. That's just something we'll have to look at when we get there.

there is a really good chance that i might be able to make this...

will know more as it gets closer...

mac 'marking it on the calendar' gyvr

Or for when your Jeep is too small and the hitch gets hung up then 30 feet later you don't hit it hard enough :dunno:

It looks like I'm free that weekend. So count me in. I'm thinking hamburgers/hot dogs for lunch? I have a small portable grill to bring.

That works for me. I'm willing to camp if the weather is decent. Green Sullivan was a nice place. Whatever you guys want to do. I know I'll be there Saturday for sure.

For lunch we can use RMG's side of the DNR maintenance building. We have a bunch of tables/chairs and we can eat indoors (with heat!).

Good idea Neal! I can always put my big grill in the trailer if a lot of people are going to show up.

ok gang, as per mapquest this is about an 8 hour haul for us...but, I am thinking I am going to try and make it. Is there going to be wheeling available for Sunday? If I pull that far I would like to leave Friday and get in the area late Friday afternoon, work/wheel Saturday, wheel Sunday and head home late Sunday or Monday. I am not much of a camper, so what kind of hotels or accomadations are close by??

There might be something in Linton but Good luck finding a Hotel in Dugger :D

If I can find another person to come out with we will be there. I am going to try and talk Collin and Dustin into making the haul out as well.

All the fun stuff happens far away... errrr
I suppose I'd consider driving my Dub out and just spotting and video taping the GTG... oh and cleaning some stuff up too :)
