rear driver door stuck..wont open from inside or out

If it is a 96 down, reach in and feel for a small metal tab sticking out of the locking mechanism, push it up. The rear mechanisms are somewhat different from the fronts but for reference, here's a thread on unjamming the front 96-down door latch mechanism:
