Re: Re: Project Second Chance

I have those lower artec bracket and they have a great fit. Pure Beef!

Good to know! Thanks man. What did you use to cut off your stock mounts?

Thanks man! I plan on doing the cooler sometime this week or next, same with the LCA mounts

Feels like I'm taking steps in reverse haha. Took off my rear bumper and hitch cuz the hitch that came on the jeep when I bought it was super sketchy looking, definitely home made with shitty looking welds. So I took it off to put my new one and my gas tank skid, only to find it doesn't have nut strips, just bolts in the frame. So I took the bolts out and I'm gunna order some nut strips from JCR on Monday.

But the other night I did get my new front brake lines in

And I asked my dad to take the hitch I got to work and paint it, this is how I got it back hahahaha, oh well it was free

Well, you did not specify what color you wanted it. And, he could have painted it pink..

Re: Re: Project Second Chance

If you have a plasma cutter use that for your lower mounts. Then clean up your tubes smooth and align those beefy mounts and burn them in.

I dont have one :( I'm just gunna use a grinder. I know it will take more time but oh well

K, school me on ABS. I have a 96 with ABS, was doing a rear axle swap an the ABS lines were cut, so I cut mine. At the same time I put in a Dakota brake line. Now the pedal feels much softer than they used to be. I've bled the brakes front and rear twice. The second time it got better, but still feels softer than before. Would the ABS lines not being connected affect this? Should I pull the relay for the ABS? Any input would be awesome.

I dont think pulling the ABS electrical lines should change the feel of the brakes, I could be wrong though. Did you accidentally let the master suck in some air while bleeding?

Got back today from my birthday camping/wheeling trip at Hungry Valley offroad park. Was up until 4a.m. the night before (Thursday) curting off the stock lca mounts and burning in the new ones. Overall I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

The trip was a blast. I've been here before with my old jeep and I attempted one obstacle called the sluice box and was unable to finish it. So this year it was my goal to finish it, and I did!! I did aqquire some body damage (or character) on the passanger rear quarter panel though. I think it looks bitchen haha. Only other problem I had was there is a clunking noise coming from the front now. I think the johnny joints on my lca's need to be replaced or rebuilt. Unfortunately my dad broke his rear locker the night before we were gunna run the Miller Jeep Trail, he told me to still go but I didn't wanna leave him sitting at camp all day waiting for me to get back, so we hing out at camp for a little bit and headed home early.

Anyways, here are some pics my buddy took. He said he's gunna put together a video as well.

This is my favorit one. This was towards the beggining of the sluice box

Nut strips came in today from JCR. Glad I went with these. Very well built and very nice finish. Hopefully getting them in tomorrow along with my new (to me) hitch and stock gas tank skid.

Re: Re: Project Second Chance

Man i got to give it to them JCR keep making great new products and really improving their old ones. Jeep is looking good

I agree. Even on something so small they did such a good job. I remember when NorCalChris bought some almost 2 years ago they were just raw metal with bolts welded to the back and I remember having a hard time getting the bolts started cuz they were warped. Definitely an improvement.
Thanks man!

Im pretty disappointed right about now. At first I thought the nutserts instead of welded on nuts were a good idea...they are not. One of the threads on one got stripped just by hand and another one started spinning when I tried to tighten it. Pretty bummed right now cuz I was excited to get hitch and gas tank skid on and now I have to wait even longer
