Project: Rattle Rattle

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

So it seems like I would benefit from a raised pitman arm, like a yj or tj. A guy here told me to try flipping my pitman arm over...Anyone ever done that? yj arm on rock auto is only about 30 bucks so its not a big deal to buy one, but if flipping mine works then why not.

But seeing as though that is not like my problem, it sounds as like I need to fix some issues that were already on my to-do list anyways.

control arm drop brackets
sway bar disco's
steering stabilizer

Yes to these three

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

As for the sway bar disco's, I have heard that some are great and some are a huge pain in the ass.

Suggestions?

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Rough country has a good set of discos out there right now. I ran them on the baby Jeep and currently have a set on the LJ.

You can pin them up as well.

While I agree to this, I have to state that I had these on my jeep when I had a 3in lift. One side broke apart driving from the campground to the quarry using the 'road' and not any trails at WF in 2011... Permanently removed the sway bar after this...

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

swaybar discos and steering stabilizers won't fix a dw problem...they might help mask it a little, but it will still be there. drop brackets will help your caster angle if its not quite right. i still am not quite sure what the pitman arm will do for you, but you can certainly try it.

good luck...death wobbly is an ugly beast. i fought it off and on for about a year and its not fun

Indeed, I have a little right now, but I'm 98% sure that my Durango box is the culprit and needs a rebuild...

Ohh and the bent d30 doesn't help either.. :D

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Swaybars are for sissies.

or for people who have to weave and bob in and out of traffic like a nascar race in nyc. if i didn't have one, i would probably be dead by now. nothing like an instant 2 lane change at 75 to avoid an obstacle in bumper to bumper traffic

Well I think I will try these. I was looking around and I couldn't possibly afford anything else. Rew had the RE ones and said he hated them.

Like I said. these were all on the to do list anyways. I will keep messing with it until its perfect. I will get that pic you request up to see what you think there.

Swaybars are for sissies.

40miles one way on the expressway, traveling 75+mph with a baby in a jeep lifted 6.5in with 35s. I think I should slap one on.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Over the last week or 2 I got a little more clean up done

Rew bringing the blade to the jeep again

Then I had my artistic wife who does things wife paint and decals on a regular bases.

I had her do it because I assumed she would do a much better than myself

Not perfect but not to bad

WTH happened here!
Notice the over spray on top AND the huge drips down the side in the front

I should be able it fix though.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Also, After getting the other jeep out of the front garage and in the back garage, I was able to back this beast up in the one car attached. Tight fit but it will be nice to wrench in the garage this winter.

Re: Project: The Silver Bullet

Great build. Do you think your wife could stop by and give mine a few pointers? I'd love it if the wife pitched in! Lucky guy.

Do you ever work on your own stuff?
