Project New Gen Comanche

I prefer the looks of a shortbed MJ but if I go through with my plans of making a dually V8 one ton MJ I'll definitely wish I started with a longbed. I think the dually fender flares would just look more proportional on a LWB and the extra wheelbase would definitely help.

Well duh....

:D

Of the red interior or the cab light?

Oh, I know!!! The disco ball on the end of the antenna!!

wow, all the gauges are different. Took me a minute to catch on, and I didn't notice the different temp/oil pressure/tach scales for a while.

There were diesel late models available abroad, right? Did they put a boost gauge in the newer IP at any point?

And wow, I wish I could find a diesel MJ around here. I think the chances of that are very low though.

theres an old couple that are friends of the family with a diesel xj. i believe its a renault?? i dont know much about them..

A few diesel XJs were sold in the US, even fewer diesel MJs were sold in the US. This is one very rare little gem, it was for sale a few months back. I had my money tied up in a 00 cherokee, I wasn't able to sell the XJ in time so I didn't buy that MJ. probably for the better since I used the money from the XJ to buy a diesel KJ that I made a pretty good amount of profit off of.

Is it a 1.9L Diesel like the S-10's were rarely offered with?

Yeah, the fact that its a diesel makes that thing awesome. And it justifies the cab lights. I'd own it, thats for sure.

It is probably a 2.1L Renault. I am not sure when the 2.1L Renault to 2.5L VM Motori switch was made.

Actually I think the S-10's got a Puegot diesel, and I'm pretty sure 1.9L was the displacement.

Found this idea over on ComancheClub........ I LOVE this idea!

This truck had the OEM roll bar in the bed - which has brackets that tied the bar to the unibody rails below the bed. This idea uses a main hoop that functions as a headache rack and mild roll bar, then ties the rest of the components to it minimizing the number of drilled holes into the bed to mount it all together..... brilliant if ya ask me. I'd just swap out the jerry cans with some larger sized military ammo cans or other type of all-weather box.

On a tip from Kevin (fireLt.) I blasted over to UPAP Denver just before they closed last Friday to go get tail lights and a tail gate off an MJ in the yard....... shame, it was definitely a fixable truck. Did score a nice pair of tail lights, rear flares (no busted mounting studs!), some bits and pieces, and a really straight tailgate.

I'm really tempted to go back with a sawzall and go get the back half and make another trailer...... Wonder how much that'd cost me.....

Then I found this 2wd, 4cyl long bed in the front row. Pretty much junk, but grabbed another pair of tail lights and other bits and pieces.

IF you happen to be monkeying around at a yard I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the bed mounting hardware, the two pucks the hinges go in and the bolts the prop rods go on. I've got an MJ tailgate I'm considering grafting to my dad's XJ.

I'm sure I can rig something up if I don't find the parts, should have took them off the donor MJ but I was thinking more of selling the tailgate at the time.

Now for random trivia time.. Did most MJs in Colorado have sliding windows? Seems most of them here in California do as well but I was talking to some dork from Massachusetts (why is that state so hard to spell?) and he indicated that they're not as common there.

I've got all those parts salvaged from junked MJ's......

But you're gonna have to take that damn TJ down from the home page ya asshat.......

Otherwise, no parts for you! :moon:

..!..:D..!..

:roflmao:Ha, I agree 100%

At least put my unibody YJ up there. Then you can add a slogan along the lines of, "NAXJA, making unibody so cool that even Wranglers are doing it"

Aha, now I know who snuck off with those taillights.LOL. By the way there are three Comanches at Colorado. I got two sets of taillights, a Sb rollbar, and a s/b gastank skid.
