Project New Gen Comanche

Don't go tampering with your current "mint" Eliminator by doing another new gen front clip swap. Go find another one for that. But yes, that one you posted does look good minus the Liberty lightbar.

Man...... kinda hard NOT to like this guys MJ. Not a fan of the Libby light bar, but I'm kinda diggin' on the new gen front and Moab wheels........

Nice, I'd lose the chrome mirrors in favor of black late model mirrors and get rid of that poorly fitting lightbar.

I was close to deciding to find an MJ but then I had kids, wife wants me to take them with me on occasion.

I'd love to have another Comanche. What I'd idealy want (and if smebody bought the YJ I could) is a mildly built 4dr XJ (4.5" of lift and 35's with a build D30 and 8.8 combo) for daily driving, camping, and family wheeling. I would then have a Comanche based truggy running 1ton axles, 3-link front and double triangulated rear, with 42's for the big boy trips where the family is nice and safe at home and I can get silly out on the big rocks.

OMG........ BINGO.

Gonna get a quote from these guys: http://www.customcommercialwheel.com/

They sell a complete kit to transform a long bed MJ into the coveted Metric Ton Dually........ :yelclap:

Building one of these is SO on my bucket list!

A guy over on ComancheClub is currently building one and found the company that originally made the fenders..... they still have the molds and built him a set of fenders...... I'm scared to find out what those cost......

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!!!!! :laugh2:

I've been wanting to do a one ton longbed MJ with a 97+ swap and a 5.9/5 speed for quite a while now. All I've found (and bought) of the parts I need is a shortbed MJ :roflmao:

Any chance you could let me know what those fenders end up costing you, and who I have to chase down to buy a set?

You guys and your mini dually love..what is wrong with you?

Are you going to tow a mini horse trailer full of Shetland Ponies with it?

Seriously....... Those fenders and dually kit on this body....... pure secksiness.

I'm sorry, THIS wasn't clear enough for you? Call 'em yer damn self......... :moon:
crap. how'd I miss that? :dunce:

Since it is now 2AM I will call them tomorrow during 'normal person hours'.

A 4dr long-box dually Comanche would be a sweet little tow rig. The 4BT would be good although they're fraking loud, somehow 1 4BT is like sitting next to 2 Dodge 6BT's side by side. They are just horrendously loud engines.

I just think it would be cool to tow your Jeep with a Jeep. Thats why I wish they would make a full size Jeep truck again. Even if it was a limited offering. Lets say something along the lines of the Powerwagon Package with a diesel option in a body similar to the Nukizer concept. 4dr, diesel, and Nukizer body on a Ram 2500 would be a sweet tow rig for any jeep. Especially if it came with the winch, lockers, and oversized tires of the PowerWagon.

the truck doesnt exhist it was in a thread where a guy was tossing around ideas, its just a photoshoped picture

LOL @ Flores........ Yeah, you musta been hiding under that rock again when all those photoshop pics were put out by DJ (Kittrell). There's several versions he posted - all done with incredible detail. DJ can be credited with having fooled hundreds if not thousands of people with his 'chops of the MJ in other forums...... quite comical actually. There's a thread over on ComancheClub where some kid argued that the truck actually exists and that he's seen it....... until the other versions were posted and he looked a fool....... :D

And....... I think it's safe to say that deep down we all really do know that the Comanche would never make a truely good tow rig, but the concept sure is enticing.

I just think the MJ dually looks killer and would be a hoot to build and drive.

Oh and Dutch, there's lots of great examples of FSJ tow rigs out there running Cummins/Allison combos. A 6BT Grand Wagoneer would be pretty sweet........

Oh definitely, but the problem with the J trucks is they're regular cabs and the problem with the Grand Waggy is that it doesn't have a bed. There was a guy making a 4dr J truck but I lost track of its build thread.

I don't know though, a hopped up WK V6 turbo diesel and a fully plated frame with the rear rails under the bed replaced with actual steel tube and I bet the theoretical MJ tow rig would be perfect for towing a single Jeep.
