Project L.A.S.R.

did she get those holes in her knees from sanding or... getting on her knees?:roflmao:

no problem, i searched high and low for some blueprint of the XJ but came up with nothing, so i took a normal digital pic, then used the "coloring book" feature that came with the camera software then MS paint to clean up the background

Cool, I'm not sure I have seen such a filter in PS, but I'm inspired to create the same.

...sanding ...almost there

pulled it outside today for some fun in the sun, and I went to the salvage yard and picked up some replacement fender flares and driverside drip rail for the roof. I also stopped around town and got a few estimates to get it painted and one guy is ready to take it tomorrow and have it back to me by monday

gonna keep the factory "silverstone metallic", easier around the door jambs and under the hood if it all matches, although black was on my mind too, but I have a black leather interior and moving farther south soon, besides I think later on the exterior armor will look better black against a silver back drop.

Come on now if you make it to pretty and shiny the zombies will find you that much easier.

Looks good Chris. That represents a lot of time and sweat. Possible a little blood too.

thats the point, hence the the light MG mounted (MG= machine gun, J/k)

Just spent about 30 min reading this thread. Really good job so far, I'm looking forward to watching it progress!
cool, Thanks

Thank you, Thank you, yes, quoting Timmy from Jurassic Park “so much blood”. Personally id say working on a jeep of this magnitude is like taking an 8 hour ride inside a washing machine with a couple glass coke bottles.

well I finally got done with sanding today, laoded it up and got it dropped off at the body shop for final prep and paint.

heres a few more items I got from the salvage yard (some hard to find chrome and limited decals)...

I also welded and painted that tow hook that was messed up, and coated the seatbelt mounting points and misc brackets.

The next couple days will be slow while I'm at work but I can't wait til Thursday, the BIG day !

its going back to the factory "silverstone metallic", basecoat / clearcoat combo, the door jambs and under the hood are too clean to change the color, also the black exo-armor will stand out better down the road.

and im gonna go with an unusual paint/trim scheme, painted bumpers and endcaps, painted wheel arches with black door trim and black grille, kinda like the newer jeeps

so when we gona see the new paint job?
