Project: Freak of Nature

Gonna go in the next couple days and have the wheels checked. That's what has got me confused is it doesn't happen all the time. Everything in the front end and steering is tight or been replaced with new stuff but it still acts like dw when it starts shaking.

do the tires show any abnormal wear?

No they don't. I checked them over really good this past weekend to see if I could find anything out of the ordinary. They look like a normal set of bfg muds.

Well we went and had the balance beads removed and regular weights put on. So far they are working out good. Was able to get my highway cruising speed back.

Did spend some time tonight finishing up the oba. Just need to pick up some air tool oil to put in the oiler. Anxious to try it out.

Tomorrow I'm gonna start on the t-case skid. Picked one up for cheap out of a 1 ton dodge ram. Thinking I can make it work just fine for us.

Got the t-case skid modified and mounted up tonight. It came off a 1 ton Dodge ram. I think it will work out just fine for us.

looks good. sits up a lot tighter than most after market skids.

I had to take about 4" out of the dodge cross member to make it fit on the outside of the xj frame rails. Then just welded it back together and bolted onto the frame. I did have to do some more trimming on the cross member to make it tuck up tighter to the frame. I'm actually pretty happy with how it came out.

Well haven't really done a whole lot to the Jeep for a while but gonna be getting started on the steering here soon it looks like. The factory style steering just isn't holding up very well even after we replaced it all last spring. Have decided to just ditch the stock steering and go with a different style.

I have narrowed it down to 2 options. There is a WJ in the junk yard that i can go grab all the parts off of to do a wj steering swap or the other option i was gonna run is an OTK steering. I know the WJ swap will also get me better brakes but it is also a lot more money for it in the end. What would you guys suggest i go with?

DOM and heims. Thats how mine is and if the steering on the baby jeep poops out again that's what it will get.

Will I need to do a new axle track bar mount or can I still use the stock one with my IRO track bar

I was looking at doing it over the knuckle. Will have to do new sway bar mounts as well.

Why do you suggest otk steering over wj swap?
