Re: Project "Something Awesome"
OSHA approved!
thanks again for the hospitality and helping hands dan!
it was a good 9-5 work day.
lol...how bad were you sweating from the time you cut the shaft off till you finished tapping the hole. you probably could have filled a gallon jug when i did mine!
how long have you ran yours?
it was warmer outside than it was inside for most of the day! if thats what you mean. crazy Mi weather... i dont get it, and im going to school for meteorology!
i was nervous as well, i think thats what you mean. cutting was a cinch, the "put it in reverse" method worked amazing. but i DEFFINANTLY took my time with the drilling and tapping. that seat is where i spent most of the day, in all honesty. everything went smoothly. only problem i really had was my tap. i brought one from home, and it really wasnt cutting it (pun intended). after a burger and a couple beers, we picked up a new one. was like night and day.
will i ever do another hack and tap?
not a chance...
for $100-$125 invested, including the $75 i spent on the shaft, deffinantly will do until i do something better. anyone hiring this summer? lol. ill be looking to get another shaft and flange adapter this summer to have as a trail ready spare. i dont feel like changing Ujoints with 2 rocks (by "2 rocks" i mean my hammer and socket method) on the trail. as long as the shaft doesnt explode, itll last longer than the jeep.
as for results. its DEFFINATLY an improved ride. most notably during accel/decel. now im ready for tires and gears, as well working out the kinks in my suspension. or rather... im ready to hit the books and dream about jeeps in bikinis on white sandy beaches. glad there isnt any snow in mount pleasant... hoping to baby the wounded 30 until the summer.
