did a little research and came to the conclusion that i could reuse my RE track bar with a double sheer bracket. that will save a LOT of money. im a happy camper.

also picked up some work in detroit for an uncle for a few days. i think im going to tell HD ive got a relative who isnt doing so hot and take sick/vacation time to go do that. that way i still get a decent check from them as well. sly... i know. abusing the system? maybe. but the F'ers screw me over all the time. ill take the oportunity to make $300 in 3 days, thank you.

just skating to pass the time. trying not to splurge with the lady, and need to get 4x4 back. the clock is ticking!

liner, reducer, tint, gun... EVERYTHING. 100% free. im a pretty happy camper. i should be starting the D30 install soon. might skimp on the CA drop brackets for now in favor of doing the BJs for piece of mind. really i just want my 4wd back so i can make the 9/1 trip to R&Vs and get my rockers replaced, and do the bed lining before the winter starts.

thinking of scrapping the 2.5" exhaust system too for something bolt in. i dont think ill really see much of a performance gain from it. still not looking forward to replacing the manifold. lol.

only time will tell i suppose.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

no "deal". someone i knew had bought it for a project and decided against it. they couldnt return it due to not keeping the receipt. they said i could have it if i could put it to good use.

good karma finally came around i suppose.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

Exhaust after the manifold has a very small effect on performance. I have tried it all and with a stock 4.0 there is not much performance to be gained.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

my trail rig has no cat and a 'Cherry bomb' type muffler. they're round with rounded corners to deflect off rocks and such, and VERY durable to deflect off rocks and such. I like the sound too.

Fore 'did I mention it deflects off rocks and such?' Wheeler

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

Thats what i was thinking of getting, cause i heard they deflect off rocks and such. i was thinking the magnaflow one tho because of the bitchin chrome instead of that pesky red

but how does it handle rocks and such?

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

2 chamber flowmaster.

mac 'sounds good, deflects rocks' gyvr

Cherry bomb: deflects rocks, sounds great and cheap.

Flowmaster meets the first two, misses the cheap part.
so they all deflect rocks... how often do i need to deflect rocks? lol. ill just end up getting something cheap. dan/mac, i know a cat delete is illegal, but does it hurt performance at all?

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

just to make sure all the tree huggers reading this know that my big xj is off road only, which makes cat delete legal.

maybe i'm still old school, but when ever you can let your motor exhaust the gasses easier, it's a boost in performance.

edit: cats deflect rocks too, but not long term.

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

When I bought my Jeep 11.5 years ago...I bought it from a dealer without a cat...it poped and backfired a little, especially when I had a cherry bomb...now with the Flowmaster its much better.

but isnt the back pressure what helps keep gas mileage? which you dont really need to worry about on a trail rig. im back up to 18-20mpg (GPS verified) with the 3.55 gears and a cracked header. :)

interesting...

sold the intake. trading the cat/muffler for a RE double sheer bracket. think its for the best. i need to start this F'in D30 rebuild.

Dan, any chance of me using your compressor to spray bed liner? i may not get to replace the rockers until im back in mount pleasant... rent payment is coming up quick. and your setup would probably better suit spraying than my little 50 gallon compressor. i can probably have it taped/back tapped in around an hour. spraying shouldnt take but 30 minutes. but itll need to sit for a few hours before i drive it home. i can provide adult beverages... (yes john, i know i still owe ya. i just havent been back to rockford. ;))

Woohoo, no more waking up my neighbors with the stupid ass rattle in the morning! :D Thanks Walt!

Re: Project "Something Awesome"

Go flowmaster super 44! I got rid of the cat on my 01and ran a 3" in 2.5" duals out with 3.5" rolled tips. It was pure sexyness! Dumb for a wheeler but I loved it!

Flex's first post in this thread in 10 pages. His ears must have been ringing. Lol.

I was thinking about making a turn down right in front of the rear tire. But decided against it as it'd probably get smashed on rocks.
