ok here is what i do in prep and yes my truck actually has a lot of it.

you're going to want your vehicle to run on what gas you have for a while so make it effician.(intake exhaust, electrical fan mod)

well supplied but not masivly jammed. well placed key items. i have a rechargable light mounted to my dash.

be EMS prepaired. now your basics to medical and have your equipment. it never herts to now first aid in any situation. good medic kit

plexy glass and lots of it. replace windows with plexy. harder to break.

and final the book zombie survival by max powers guide.in any case just use it like revolution surviaval guid. :read:

My experience with plexiglass, it always broke pretty easily. Are you sure you don't mean Lexan? Either way they both scratch easily, reducing visability.

Did anybody see the mythbusters when they used bedliner to make an explosive barrier? I missed it, but heard the bulk of it at work. Think about it...

I think it was SmashLab, not Mythbusters. For War time survival you need water, food, medicine and guns and ammo( because someone is going to want your water, food and medicine). The best thing you can do to prepare your xj is to drive it daily and not spend a dime on it you don't have to so that you spend the $$$ to prep something like a '70s Chevy. You will need something that can literally be fixed with bailing wire and something that will be easy to find parts for. When was the last time you drove more than 2miles without seeing a '70-'80s model Chevy sitting in a yard or field. A '70s chevy with a good 350, 1ton running gear and nothing exotic or complicated on board would be my pick.

Prepare the hell out of your XJ. As New Orleans (if not common sense) has shown you, there won't be anywhere to go anyways. Roads and side roads full of cars that were not prepared and/or out of gas, and trails full of people who want what you have a lot more than you do.

If you're that worried about it, get out of the city now and start preparing somewhere distant from any major populace.
