Hey guys, I found a deal through work on a 1995 XJ Sport 4wd w/116k for $3500. Clean car so I had it checked out by the mechanics, they said it has the following problems:
a) Valve Cover Gasket Leak
b)Transfer Case Leak (not sure where or how bad)
c)Oil Pan Gasket Leak
d)Rear end noise (possibly needs rebuild)
e)Pulsation in the brake rotors.
Other than that seems like a clean car, well maintained. Just wondering if it seems like a good deal to you guys (I trust you more than the techs.)

I'm planning 4.5" Lift and 32's, if that matters. I guess that's why I posted in the modified tech forum.
Thanks
Mike

I can't really say whether that is a good deal or not, seems to be pretty good, but prices vary greatly with regions and I haven't seen it.

however, i don't think you should let any of those problems discourage you.

a) valve cover gasket is a piece of cake to change
b) if you're lifting it you're going to need to open up the tranfer case anyway to do an SYE conversion, so you can seal it up good when you're done
c) oil pan is pretty easy, especially if you have a lift, if it's the rear main seal leaking then it's a little worse, still not that bad
d) rearend rebuild would be expensive, but if you're going to lift it you're going to want to regear it anyway or swap something stronger
e) get the rotors turned, no big deal

Sorry it took so long

But I have been bussy at the office this week. Not much time for fun! Plus I had to scan them. I thought those were on a disk but they were not. Did Andy ever get his fram fixed?

Last time I was at his shop he had the plates welded on the driver's side, and he was gonna do the passenger side, too (at least I *think* he was:rolleyes: )while it was all apart. Haven't seen it lately, but I'd guess he's either got it done by now or is close to it.
