I'd like to see pix of your rig's front receiver with winch/winch plate. Trying to decide if I wanna get a front hitch with winch plate now, or save for a whole bumper system later.
Are you referring to a winch mounting plate that slides into a front tow hitch receiver? Harbor freight has reciever mount but I would not buy it from them. There are a number of manufacturers who make such a thing in a strong version.I'd like to see pix of your rig's front receiver with winch/winch plate. yea...that was my question. CAuse I do mostly climbing/crawling. So I want a winch...I just dont wanna spend the money.
Here are some pics of mine. I go out alone once in a while and I like the option of putting it in the rear receiver to pull myself out of a bad situation.![]()

wow...I don't see much clearance loss at all.
Thats awesome.

Don't look at the ground clearence, look at the total loss of his approach angle. Thats a horrible setup if your wheeling steep trails or any trails for that matter.

Definately a loss of approach angle. But, is it any worse than some after market winch bumpers?
My bumper is probably that bad... I just use it to feel my way through the rocks.![]()
This is a really helpful picture, thanks.
I see what you mean with the winch being set up higher on the bumper mounts. I think the detours system does an especially good job of keeping it high, but also nice and tight against the grill. The xj I bought just before this one had a winch on it, and now that I think back, it stuck out pretty far from the bumper, and wasnt as high up as thedetours system.
Anyone use the backbone bumper?
